I had an issue insuring my 90 van - I had it with one company (Marks & Spencer) for 18 months until I rang to change a driver and then they decided it was a commercial and said they couldn't insure it. After a bit of jumping up and down on my part they agreed to refund the full year's insurance to me but God knows what would have happened if I'd have had a prang. I'm now with Adrian Flux and they were fine and it's covered for towing and greenlaning. They did want an immobiliser fitted and accepted a secret switch.
I had a similar thing but I got in touch with Bill at www.paintman.co.uk, sent him a washer with the colour and he matched it. He was very quick with posting.
I am just having my 90 van changed to a truck cab basically because I have squished my roof so badly with trialling and greenlaning. I'm having a chequer plate lift up lid fitted to the rear bin (using range rover tailgate struts) - so I get some dry storage. The price of truck cabs at the moment seems to be quite high - seen some going for around £300 on Ebay - usually they are around £150. Not sure why?
I would say it depends on what sort of off-roading you are doing.
I have a 90 van with no windows, which was a blessing! With the trialling and greenlaning I have done, I have managed to square off the passenger side roof at the rear. I've seen a fair few alpine and side windows getting popped too.
As storage is not important to me, I am now having the 90 truck cabbed.
You might get that sort of price down South at the moment - there's a rush on them and they are getting good prices these last couple of weeks, with the snow but fuel price increase might put a stop to it.
Thank you for the reply. I'll try them.
I suppose I'm looking to spend max £100 and all I need it to do is keep me in contact with greenlaning buddys. Oh and be able to take aerial off when trialling. I've heard of a Midland radio but no idea what model would suit.
Any suggestions please?
I was hoping someone may be able to recommend a 750 tyre, and where to get them from.
I currently run Colway Atacamas 750 x 16R on my 90 but I understand that Colway went out of business a couple of years ago. I want to replace them with a similar type tread which suit me for RTVs and towing a caravan.
Cheers
