My local pneumatic components dealer sells them solenoids for £21 each , I can get the part no. if needed.

    Hi Folks.

Why use both a switch and a switch when one by thinking KISS can use only one at the same price or even less!!!

I have been using something like on picture for for my Lockers for years now, there is less things that can go wrong in that way, I think.

It is just a simple pneumatic switch so there is only the pipes to fiddle with and one has to do that any way, they comes in various types one can have his choise even as pushbuttons, the ones I have sourced did cost around 20£ here in DK.

    Kind regards

  2. Here's the plan:

    1) I'm going to go through the service manual and check the engine thoroughly in the hope of increasing power.

    2) I'm going to start saving money for a 200TDI - it sounds like the best long-term solution.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions!

    HI TPB.

It sounds like the right long term plan, if however you want to fiddle a bit, here is what I have done in the past both to 2,5 and 2,25.

A good free flow airfilter ie K&N either in the original box or straight on the inletmanifold(if you can cope with the noise).

The above gives normaly room for a bit off tweak on the pump plus it can give a bit better milage if you continue to drive as before and only use the little extra when needed.

Then the wild thing, I have with great succes ported both 2,5 and 2,25 heads with big flow improvements actually so much so that we have been able to increase fuel by, now hold on 15% with even less smoke that std, the 15% is a fact since it was done when I had the pump recalibrated at a Pumpshop.

On the 2,25 I also fitted a 2,5" free flow exhaust.

I know that all off this will take money from the savings, but to me it was allso a matter off experience and curiosity.

If you need more detail just PM me.

    Kind regards

    Ole.

Excellent folks, great advice, i like LandyManLukes method of the strop through the tow rope. No more shackles to worry about. You could use a shackle in this case though couldnt you??

    Hi Landybear

In Dk the type as on the litle pic is quite popular a bit expencive but works very very well and come in different sizes, the are use on payloaders, and diggers.

We do weld the to a picce off 3/8 drill 4 holes one in each corner the two off them line up with the ones that holds the bumper the two others goes just through the bumper in front off the others.

  4. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!! sounds good, espcially the beer and curry bit! REAL ALE i hope, out of the keg!, maybe morris dancing etc etc. How about something else for the weekend as well, maybe fly fishing lessons! power kites! mountain bikes, assault course! call it LAND ROVER ADVENTURE WEEKEND. and those that pay get a nice classy sticker for their truck, thus free advertising for you! Cheers Stumpy.

Hi Daid and Yostumpy and all off you.

Regarding beer, I have suggestion in 2005 at the RoverNational the bar Was called the DiscoveryBar, because one could discover a heck off a lot off Ale's from all the local breweries, there was at least between 10 and 20 different ones all the time and when one got empty a new came up not just more off the same kind but a new one, G.. I got drunk, thats an understatement, more like absolutely plastered, but all great fun.

    See you there.

    Kind regards

  5. I had some great laning days and all round off roading on SAT's , bit scarey inthe wet on road ????? any one else

    Hi IbexMan.

I do remember, it was the first hardcore off road tyre I ever bought, and it was good to by the standars at that time, having tried later designs i have found that the thread was very very good but the carcass was way to hard it did not give the thread a fair chance.

And if they where scarey in the wet they were frightning on ice

    Kind regards

  6. Hi Folks.

So to sum it all up, it is all about avoiding cavitation, re, enlarging the ports is it only on the inlet there is any gain in smothing things out?

Having thought about where and in what way to enlarge the inletport my idea is to make the port oval/wider but keep the diameter as the smaller dimension, is that a right thought? And then off course smoth out all sharp edges and so.

But what then about the outlet is that the same?

    Kind regards

    Ole.

  7. Hi Everybody.

Last night after a few beers at the local blacksmiths workshop we started to get inventious, and the question raised, can gear pump be ported? I do remember years back before the ZF pump came out on the 300TDI people used to do something to the old type pump.

But here we are talking about larger pumps for ie winch or even hydrostatic drive off your toy.

When one look at the pump it seems rather crude made and we thought; what would happen if we did enlage the out let by say 3mm it is about 12 and also did the same on the inlet or just did it on the inlet?

Is this way off or does anybody know a bit about it.

    Kind regards

    Ole.

  8. My 200tdi has started taking a couple of extra turns to start since the waters last weekend (I have a snorkel on it and i have been deeper when off roading - so not sure this is relevent).

But yesterday I ran short of fuel, so topped i up, started it, and then found that it had no power/acceleration when i pressed the accelerator (it happened shortly before I topped up - hence i thought it was lack of fuel). It was also sending out plooms of blue smoke :o

If I switched off, and restarted, it seemed to be better, then revved it a few times and then the same again. When there was no power, it was running rough - as if firing on 3 cylinders!

I wondered if it was fuel starved and so wondered if went to bleed the filter, before doing this i undid the drain tap in case there was water in it - and there was obviously a vacuum formed in the filter - which i have not heard before...

When I undid the bleed screw on the top and tried to use the lift pump, i cant bleed the system - ie cant get fuel to come out the bleed screw.

My initial thoughts were c*** in the system sucked up from the tank - but would expect the filter to keep that at bay (filter rplaced less than 1000 miles ago).

Then I wondered if it was the lift pump failed - i have read about this and the one way fuel valve in the filter head.

The fuel return pipes on the injectors look a little damp at the junction of the pipes between cyl 2 &3 also...

I guess the worst scenario is head - but at the moment no contamination of water is evident.

Any thoughts before i run off and spend a ton of time (and money I dont want to spend on it!)?

    Cheers

    Jerry

    Hi Jerry.

Even though the filter is only 1000 miles old I would fit a new one also check the filter at the end off the pipe in the tank (if there is any) and then I would make shure that the lift pump is ok, you tried to prime by using the pump but it did not seem to do anything, are you shure the pumpe was not on top off the cam, ie full lift, if try turning the crank btw 1/2 and one turn, and then try again, if the pump is on top off the cam then you can almost not get any movement in the pump in order to pump some fuel.

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Kind regards

    Ole.

  9. On the yellow car I would like 24volt as SimonR's arguement for overvolting was very persuasive. On my car I need 24v as I have ordered/expressed interest in 2x Will's 7.8hp motors in 24v spec, plus it means I can use cheaper (smaller cross sectional area) cable

    Hi

I have now tried to search in a lot off diff ways to find this about overvolting with no result, can anyone give a hint about where to look,...Please ;-)

    Kind regards

  10. here's a review Interphone Review

We Have tried them here in Denmark at Challenge events, they work very nice as long as you can more or les se each other but not very good if "line off sight" is broken, and then when they lose contact one has to sort off syncronize them again, wich is a pain in B*** in the middel off a timed stage.

I use a Peltor Microphone and a cheaper earphone built into my helmet, the advantage off the Peltor Mic is that due to the way it is constructed with two membranes it do outphase a lot off noice, here in DK I paid 250£ to have them built into the two helmets.

I am currently using mobiles as com device but are looking into some fancy 900Mhz Us spec things with 1/4 mile range wich I am trying to get hold off, you will hear more about this if I succed.

The drawback off the mobiles is the same as with the BlueToth system you have to do two much to re-establis the connection but it is simply just invaluable two be able to speak both ways at the same time( full duplex)

    Kind regards
