  1. i was more worried about going off centre and ending up scimming close to the sides, my only available method at home is a hand held drill and a vice , drilling through from either side , i have seen methods of placing the item in the chuck on a pillar drill and then lowering it into a vice work quite well but although in the future i will add a lathe to the workshop as it will make all kinds of useful tools and replace broken parts its not something i have the cash or the space for right now
  2. Thanks guys I need it to have a total of 12 ports and so it's kind of a bespoke unit , but a very simple design
  3. The manifold needs to be 1/4bsp the giggle is 1/8, Vulcan I will send you a pm in a day or two I only need the hole I'm quite looking forward to making the rest.
  4. Hi guys struggling a bit here with an on board air project on dads strange rover. Previously rigged three systems up on mine and friends trucks and purchased a custom aluminium manifold for each truck, this time round tho I've had no answer from the member so ive bought a 32mm x 32mm x 250mm Ali bar and an appropriate Set of drill bits to put a 11.8mm hole through the length of it and then several holes down one side as the ports the dilemma is how do I drill it it's entire length accurately without a lathe ?
  5. i got a feeling they'll be coming off and i'll be taking them to the auto factors on the weekend then
  6. hey people, who can figure this out for me? ive been using this site / google and paddocks as a combo to get where i am (and thats still no further than when i started) ive got a rrc k plate 3.9 i am replacing the alternator after killing it the weekend before last , ive got that in the cart and moved on to the belts my car has three belts on it v belt crank to water pump v belt crank to power steering pump multi groove crank to pas to alternator so has anyone an idea on part numbers hoping someone has changed theres and knows them thanks guys
  7. i believe me , the old man and a mate + his family are all going , cant think of muck i need but if theres bargains to be had lol i'll fill my shelves with them
  8. tell her to go with what you are supplying then if it is not up to scratch afterwards you'll have to replace it and paint it , at the end of the day its a removable panel so it has no effect on the car to do it then replace it and re do it later
  9. theres one in magaluf , at the back of katmandu on a crazy golf course , katmandu is a complete upside down building full of wierd things collected from around the world very clever i thought , even the trees are upside down
  10. this i why im glad i have a range rover , it is a private light goods estate there not going to get me yet
  11. hmm i'd also be interested in an answer on the cb mount and light bar tabs question as im about to get a rrc msa internal external , but the only bit scrutinised for its structure is the rear hoop and stays, the above ruling on no fittings to be welded to the msa scrutineered part of the cage has however now scuppered my plans on welding some mounts to the rear hoop back stays to mount my waffles tho
  12. was once told a story by my old science teacher that his uni professor would play with a blob of mercury whilst doing lectures and the chemicals in the mercury eventually drove him mad, perhaps it was because he'd think he'd misplaced all of his aluminium belongings
  13. complete brake over haul on the car at the minute , i mean brand new everything , was a twin line abs range system and now is a single line disco complete new system , i had the pipe layouts originally sorted as there was a blown up 300tdi disco schematic in the russian numcat site pinned at the top of the parts request forum but it appears that sites gone down , does anyone have access to one they can screen shot and host , i'm running an apple mac with parallels windows but my disc drive went the other day and so i cant even look on rave at the second to see if they list it
  14. Hi andy thanks for that ar you still using the STD stc1285 non abs 300 tdi master cylinder ? Reason I ask is the 110 Calipers run 44mm pistons rather than the 41mm pistons and I was wondering if the STD master was man enough ( although this on mine will also be new shop bought as I'm removing my rrc abs and refitting a complete new 300 tdi braking system but wanting to keep my brand new vented disks on my rebuilt axles so !!! I now have all my part numbers for the complete system thanks guys
  15. and i take it these will fit a disco / range axle all the same ?
  16. are there such things as front single brake line vented callipers or are all the vented callipers twin line ? thanks guys
  17. as the title really guys , on my truck rrc i am running the std abs system but with my lockers and the fact the lines are starting to corrode i am going to remove it for a servo and master cylinder , i was thinking seeing as i will also be replacing the calipers at the same time i may aswell buy single line vented front calipers whilst im at it rather than the twins i have on there now , does anyone have access to a list of part numbers for a 300tdi disco master, servo front and rear calipers to hand
  18. Don't get me wrong I like the stance on creepys and generally I have found them a very good quality / extremely strong,I just find there's not as much control in the brown stuff as I'd like making me reach for the winch controls too early in the game. I would except fedimas if the speed rating was just 10mph more, more so for piece of mind Bfg MUDs although not as aggressive as any of the above still stand very tall on my list but only due to there availability build quality and speed rating I think I'd be disappointed with them and so might aswell stick with my creepys . Does anyone know the speed rating on boggers?
  19. i have creepys at the min and they dont clean at all in the mud it needs to be road going but it will be entering challenges last years challenger winners were in a road going truck cab !!
  20. Fedima are built well but only rated at 65mph father has 31's, insa aren't top of my list they just look like there going to pop , silverstone mt117 I have heard lots of stories of side Walls splitting very early , Need to be 35" 10.50 - 12 Car has lockers and full hd shafts/cv's
  21. Looking at new wheels and tyres end of next month wheels I've got sorted but tyres I was looking at simex 35 x 11.50 15 extremes but it appears these aren't readily available until august so I'm now looking at other options. Swamper boggers are a little ott for what I need and don't play well on the rocks so I've heard, (I won't rule them out just yet) but asking what else are you running in light competition
  22. bit of a concern really , a few months ago on a pay and play day ( harbour hill, 4x4 without a club ) my mates uncle went down a bomb hole and cam to climb back out when he discovered he couldn't he did take 2 or 3 attempts climbing out (the the hole not too steep a climb but 3-4 ft deep) every time obviously he tried the applied the brake at the top and then lowered back down and eventually reversed out . on inspection when he came out he had sheered the two mounting points for the front drivers calliper , (sheered them off the calliper - the calliper broke not the axle) resulting in the brake line wrapping round the axle as the calliper grabbed the disc and spun round now ive don this hole with the lockers on and i was fine but this weekend my mate father went out in his bobtailed range rover and attempted the same hole and has sheered his calliper bolt hole lugs off of his calliper , are there previous experiences of this , sounds a little concerning to me as they weren't going crazy i would have thought there was more stress on an emergency stop on a motorway which is why i am showing my concern
  23. well ive only run around town in a diesel disco manual and i think it is obviously going to be a bit more of a handful when off road what with winching and everything else going on , i was only really asking to see if there were some good solid reasons as to why i should go manual
  24. lol ok, ok, so the next question is there any real need for all of the upgrade parts for the std zf auto or is it a case of if theres been no trouble with what your doing keep going until it gets upset and throws its toys out the pram then buy the later upgrade parts and have them fitted inside , do you all run standard boxes above ?? thanks for your time it is saving me a lot of money and wasted fabrication time to head down the right track first time following the guidance of those who have been there and bought the t shirt
  25. hmmm so do i wait for the odd person to pop up and say manual i really like the sound of a v8 on over run , although i do believe auto is the way to go too
