  4. So how'd it go? We need pics, I can't wait to re visit the site next year as our visit in June was awsome.
  5. Take it it was a bit of a quiet weekend then ? Far too many shows in a year now, although I can't wait for Newbury sort out, it always seem to hold some good parts although the prices can be a little hopeful.
  6. hi guys bit of a question on fuel tanks , currently have a rrc bobtail 3.9 petrol with underslung ali tank looking to fit a rear winch in the space where the tank is fitted plus i need a larger tank as mine is only 32 liters the tank I'm looking at is 900mm wide x 500 mm deep x 230mm tall it will be made professionally of ali with internal baffles and will be mounted in the back of the truck to the boot floor I'm not building this to be a competing truck but i would like the chance to give it a go in the future and so want to get the tank fitted and shielded right to allow me to do so if i feel in the mood to compete lightly in the future what ive been told is the tank needs to be fully enclosed from the cab / driver , so is this just a case of making a box for this tank to be fitted inside with all feeds returns exiting through the floor of the vehicle ? can this box be a bolt together item so as to allow access to the tank when needed? does the filler pipe have to be enclosed also as this would be running from the rear quarter in to the the vehicle and then into the top of the tank?
  7. funnily i dont think your get much for them weighing them in as there as lite as a feather which should get you wondering in the first place
  8. they look identical to terrys rds ones that failed , they must have been painted by previous owner
  9. right i'm not really sure where to look so i thought it was time to stop the headaches and use the forum for what it's meant for, i need a new alternator , well a new bearing as mines whining away like a goodun. i much prefer buying a replacement as if one bearing gone another wont be to long away knowing my luck , engines a 3.9 v 8 with cats the unit states a1271-100 and the aternator runs its own multi groove belt i had a look on paddocks and the like and couldn't get it to find the part number any ideas guys and girls as i'd rather replace it before it locks up miles from home
  10. Just spoke to tw and they'd like my units back and have offered replacements. I don't know whether this means they'll look in to the matter on the pattern packs but as said before if buying ther kit save some money and get the second hand gen ones even the clips on the leads stay clipped without the need for pull ties on the gen packs, the patterns wouldn't
  11. hi guys no as i said i wasn't shaming them i was merely saying as the guarentee there second hand units which are motrcraft / ford units save your money with them and get the second hand ones i will phone them tomorrow and see what they do a pair of gen spares wouldn't be bad , as these gen packs arent actually mine
  12. a word of warning (before starting to put a companies name in dirt) this was a problem i encountered bought a complete trigger wheels kit with all the new items options ticked and ever since i fitted it it missed when it got wet ive fitted a mates sourced from second hand parts and that was spot on and both mine and his were identical installs so i started to investigate and ive found the as new coilpacks from trigger wheels are pattern parts and where there liquid filled around the lead towers there not filled enough allowing water to the contacts under the tower which a is a problem in its self but then the next problem is that the ford coil pack by design has a lip around all 4 towers on a coil pack this then creates ponding in the top of the pack and the towers start shorting the other problem i had was i could actually turn the towers spinning them with a little force this in itself shows the towers are not correctly bonded to the resin in the pack ive fitted two second hand packs 1 ford 1 motorcraft and there spot on . ive jet washed the packs to death and not even a hickup (the original packs missed with a spray or two from a garden centre squirty bottle
  13. hi mate can you do a wiring diagram of the whole system ? to show how they connect in to the relays and how the relays connect in to the vehicle
  14. ive had a good look though the forum be cant find any thing on this ?? anyone save a link in the past id be most grateful
  15. just a question , my cars started playing up steering wise , its really hard to turn left but easy as pie to turn right and this is on the spot without the car moving , when driving it just don't feel right , its not loose but the return to centre aint quite there does this sound like a box or a pump ? the box doesn.t leak and the belt seems fine on the pump
  16. Aas the title says. The car didn't seem quite right today. Its not pulling when driving as far as im aware, its just got heavier to turn left and springs straight back and turning right is a doddle. There is plenty of fluid in the resevior. There is some slight whining or squeaking from the power steering pump when made to turn right but the belt doesn't seem to be slipping. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? It's a RRC 3.9 Thanks in advance Rick
