Not having the right codes only makes your engine a little "rough", no power or limitations matters (my ouwn expirience having not a single code agree during 2 years). It seems like you have a wastegate actuator arm stuck (same sympthoms a few weeks ago in my 2001). Go for a WD40 and pliers ride.... it's the cheapest way to find out....

Sorry, it's a D2 TD5
-
Even my Defender is really quiet (sound, vibrations feel all the frame), TD5 is really a low noise wngine, even compared with Nissan and Ford engines here in Colombia.

Please.....

My 110 give me 24MPG in a city and off road (low range) basis, about 70% and 30% ratio. I'm about 2600 msnm, is this normal?
-
Hello.... I have a dumb question. When you talk about MPG you use imperial gallons, right?

Good day. A friend of mine is asking if the black box control unit of wastegate can be disconnected with no problems? It seems to be broken and his Disco is running like carp. He took the hose from turbo and connected it as in Defender, disconnecting the black box. It's now running as new, but he is worried about any possible damage or "limp" mode in the future. Has somebody bypassed this control box?

Are these late 110 stornger than Salisbury?

Here in Colombia I only have access to Britpart filters, and never have a problem for leaking or anything with them. My centrifugal is highly noisy and is a Britpart too. The Land Rover centrifugal wasn't noisy at all, but maybe it's because first owner never changed it (first change was made by me on the 120.000 kms). I want to try with Mahle, can anybody give me the reference of the part?

Since december I have permanently 3 amigoes in my dashboard, no matter what I have done (grounds, bleeds, nanocom, all kind of tests...). However, yesterday I found that when I lock center diff, everything comes back to normal. Nanocom always shows "Pump failure 2". Once I disengage difflock, 3 amigoes reappears and stay on..... somebody with similar problem? any idea?

What kind of oil you use? does it meet TD5 needs? it must be at least a 5w40..... I use to had that problem until move to Mobil 1 (synth) 0w40...

Here we don't have a producto like waxoyl, is it valid to fill inside the chasis with diesel? some friends of mine protect their frame this way in their Santanas, with really no concerns on rust. I live around 20 meters to beach, so rust is a relly big concern for me. How can I efectevely wash inside rails of the frame?

In a recent trip temp raised up till 97.........too excesive? gauge needle didn't reach the mid of the range
-
Hi there. Can you tell me what temp do I expect to see in my Nanocom gauge mode? it's constantly between 77º and 89º, depending on turbo activation, ares these values OK? normally here I have ºC all over the city.
-
Thanks a lot, Jake. You know if anybody in here have them?
-
Hi there. I'm tempted to buy a new (in Colombia) brand of differential lockers called Kaiser, from Nekarth company. Has somebody heard about them or have their products?
-
Thanks a lot, i'll find it tomorrow.
-
OK, it's now done, zero Nanocom problems since then, thanks Steven... besides earth from battery to chassis, ECU and ABS control units to earth posts, and from right underseat to chassis, is there any other earths?
-
Thanks a lot Seven, it's now clear to me, I'll do it and let you know....
-
Seven, sorry in being such an idiot, but there's a final question: pins 4 and 5 have a wire each or I must use one for both? also, this OBD connector is the one that I use for Nanocom issues, right? so this is the way:
Wire(s) going from -ve to pins 4 and 5 of OBD connector
wire(s) going frome pins 4 and 5 to ECU ground?????
Thanks a lot for all your patience....
-
Seven, also (and please forgive my ignorance) can you tell me if wire comes from positive or negative lead?
-
Seven, the earth you are talking about goes from battery to what pin of the OBDC conector? and from there to pin 4 or pin 5 (or to both?)? what kind of wire did you use?
-
Thanks a lot, Black. Both pins must be connected to battery lead? negative or positive lead (I suppose it's negative, but prefer to be sure...)? I think those are the new ground points they mentioned in the article. What kind of wire do I need?

Some time ago I read about how to reground a Defender TD5 in order to eliminate some little problems with electric and electronic systems. Now I have some time to make this regrounding mission, but I can't find this mentioned topic. Can somebody help me with this? specially, I'm interested in fix a little problem with my Nanocom: when used as instrument, it generates a very frequent error, it's really annoying..... thanks in advance for any reply.

Sorry bringing this issue again, but I have a doubt. I live in Colombia, a country where diesel is not the best (we have around 5% sulphur and a lot of dirt in it). In addition, our streets and roads are really dusty due to thier broken condition. Do you think I can take oil changes every 6k miles without changing filters (they are REALLY expensive in here), changing both of them every 12k? another little question: fuel filter must be replaced every....?
