  1. Had discs & pads before from paddocks for the 300tdi with no problems.Changed Discs & pads (again from paddocks) this morning on the TD5 easy job.Just be careful taking the old disc off as you have to keep turning it and tapping with a soft hammer on the dics from behind.
  2. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What kind of a b*ll ache is it to put standard roof rails on a 2001 TD5 that's never had them. Anybody got any for sale? also looking for a bull bar, side steps, wheel cover, light gaurds if anybody fancies a cheap Holiday in a French watermill
  3. Just checked references and it looks like they have sent me early series ones Merde! Any one know what the correct ref should be?
  4. Hi Ordered some from UJ's for my 1985 110 2 1/4 petrol and just stripped old ones out to find that the new ones are too small New ones are hardy spicer ref RTC 3291, they are small bearing diameter & and not long enough side to side in the yoke!!! Thanks in advance Jason
  5. You have to cover up the hole otherwise you get covered in oil! Vac pump orf and .........................................................tap,tap,tap............ ....... Looks like it's Head off time, little end bearing? Broken valve? but it's not going to happen as I aint got the time or space at the moment. What do 200 tdi engines go for in England? Would a 300tdi be a straight swop?
  6. Cheers western I will make a plate up, I will only have to start her up for a few seconds to see if it's that or not, personaly don't think so but at least I will be able to rule it out!
  7. The tapping or could even say knocking is that bad you would'nt dare drive it Got a horrid feeling that the smoke is part & parcel of the knocking, should realy take the head off but there is so much other stuff to do on it that I don't want to unless I'm more or less sure I know what it is! I could take vac pump off and try it , nothing to loose.
  8. Checked lift pump (took it off and put a plate over hole) not that, don't think it's vacuem pump, checked timing again, all spot on (injection pump, flywheel, and 2 other cogs on cambelt) checked tappets again and all them little caps on top of valves-Sound! Now that the weather is warmer it taps straight off from start up and is constant??? Starts turn of a key and still smokes white??
  9. I got a mate to get me some from a LR stealer in the U.K. 1:It was very expensive about £37 for 5litres. 2:I don't think it makes a sh*t of difference in the gearbox as appose to the Dexron 111!
  10. Thanks jimmy! Will try and have a look at them later today !
  11. Just got round to stripping down to the cam belt to check the timing/crank damper wood ruff key and much to my disapointment everthing looks fine except for a load of oil in there, everthing lines up!
  12. Hi chaps Thinking of buying a TD5 Auto 2004. Hate auto's (no let's not start a debate-again) but all I can find in our price range are bl**dy autos Beggers can't be choosers took above out for a test drive this evening and it just felt like it was slipping- would'nt have it when I put my boot down revs went up but would'nt go anywhere quickly. I think that it might be the torque converter that then puts the Km's on the clock in doubt as it's supposedly only done 117k km's (68k miles) What do you reckon & how easy is it to wind a digital clock back? (No I don't want to know how to do it ) Jason
  13. Thanks, thought it was, must be that caked up with carp that I can't see it!
  14. Hi Anybody tell me where the chassis N° is on a 1995 300 tdi??? Thanx in advance. Jason
  15. Hi Chris yeh sorry! I know it's short notice, but thanks for the interest so far and as soon as I know the dates for 2010 I will let you know. Was more aiming at the expats in the area. Jason

  18. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi chaps Had the 109 booked in for a local mot (control technique) a few weeks ago and in a last vain attempt in stopping the cow from smoking broke a injector pipe (had already heard that it was easy to do) so whilst waiting for a new set cheated Look pump off and opened up the bolt holes to get more advance on the pump! and guess what? After being stood in a French field for over 10 years got her first time through her mot this morning Have to say that the tester is a realy nice guy and helped her through the polution test as she still smokes Top bollix
  19. You know what? You could be right there bow as it does sound like the piston is hitting one of the valves! Find it hard to believe that the timing could be so far out to let this happen and still run?
  20. Already tried slacking off the inj pipes one at a time -No difference!
  21. Well I reckoned to have a good look but for the time involved can have another look at them! Not touched her since, been to busy with my 109
  22. splutter, lung full of smoke & a smelly ear No can't hear it at the exhaust end, kin bizare, just started her up tap,tap tap tap, tap, tap,tap tap tap tap not regular like it was a broken valve hitting every other time & would have spotted it with the rocker cover off.If you put a long screw-driver on to the rocker cover, block & yeh lug on the other end you can't hear it.
