  1. And you think you've got problems My series 3 109 that I'm currently doing a lot of welding to
  2. Any one got a top tip on how to get leaf spring bushes out and back in (of a vehicle that's been in a field for 10 years)? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for your replies! Thought as much but always nice to have comfirmation-No worries, will get the bit's ordered and next on the list after chassis welding, dumb irons etc........
  4. Hi Chaps Bought a series 3 109 2 1/4 diesel to do up that had been stuck in a field for 10 years, after a bit of farting about bleeding injectors etc I managed to get the old girl going and she ran like clock work! Not started her since (a month or so) and now when you start her she smokes and when you take the breather off the rocker cover there is massive pressure that feels humide!Dont know if she uses water as some of the pipes leak.No mayo on oil filler cap,oil in water etc.... So I thinks that the head gasket has gone, the bit that was leaking oil/water into cylinders was plugged with rust and has since opened up again! Any thoughts? Cheers Jason
  5. All sorted! Previouse owner had been messing with the electrickery (no earth to the coil) once sorted cracked up first time!

  7. (Have also put this in the series bit but as it's relevent to both, thought that I would stick it here too!) Hi Just bought a non-runner series 2a with a 3.5l V8, the guy that sold it me said that it worked fine and then the starter motor stopped working! Starter motor turned out to be a faulty ignition switch, so it now turns over but no spark! There was a bad live to the coil so have put a new one in it but still no spark. Distributor cap/HT leads look relatively new, no points as it's an electronic jobby, slightly goosed now- Anyway of checking if it's the coil, is it the same coil as a 2 1/4 ? as I have a spare Any body know where to go from here? Cheers Jason

  9. Silly question but have you tried cleaning rear petrol pump filter? Can't be your tappets then if it has been O.k for a while, but still have a look at them all the same

    What is it?

Thanks FridgeFreezer I also have a series 3 2,1/4 Diesel that's well poorly so the idea is to make one out of 2,dont know which one yet-you know how it, is but as I have log books for both it could be either!

    What is it?

OK chaps thanks for that What about Log book saying Rover & not Land Rover? What is the procedure for changing the paperwork for an engine with the vehicle on a U.K log book? Cheers Jason

    What is it?

What a seies 2A with lights in the grill & wings? Not got a problem with the French side of things, it's still registered in the U.K and would be easier to do any engine changes first before registering in France as it's a nightmare here afterwards
  14. Had a similar problem with my 110 2 1/4 petrol, the tappets were all out (no clearance, hence not closeing) and the timing that was well out! Good luck!
  15. What is it? In the process of buying this but would like a bit of help to what it actualy is? Normaly it should be a series 2A but its got a 3.5l V8 in it, the log book says Make:Rover and not Land Rover? year of registration 01/09/1967,Chassis N°27108214D, Rigid body! From a paperwork point of view how easy is it to put a 200tdi engine in it? Thanks in advance Jason

    Nasty Bolt!

Cheers Les Them's bolts well rusty too but easy to get at from the inside with "Ye old Angle Grinder"
  17. Anyone got a "Top Tip" on how to get the bottom bolt undone/orf on the clutch master cylinder on a 1980 109 ??????? Darn things rusty, rounded and not playing ball
  18. I think it's done about 160k.
  19. Cheers Bogmonster, all the other gears work fine so it looks like it's going to be expensive then
  20. Hi my mate has just lost 3rd gear on his 1994 Discovery (R380 box) Clunk Bang whollop and it was gone Any one got any idea's Thanks in advance
  21. Cheers cipx2 Needless to say it's gone back on as it was .
  22. I re-set my tappets (they were well out) whilst changing the rocker cover gasket not so long ago, reckon I get at least +10% mpg since
  23. Find your timing mark on your flywheel (large notch) through wadeing plug hole, kin big screw driver & second person to lock it. Rachet with a big tube on it, job done!
  24. Not 100% sure it was the cam belt tensioner bearing yet, time will tell, sure as shell was noisy when I spun it by hand. Cut it in half with angle grinder out of curiosity- No grease-dry as a bone!
