  1. the brake was presumably working when i wound the rope onto my 8274, hence the clicking noise of the brake rachet. using it under load today, it wasnt holding.whats the cause of this?worn pads? thanks, alex
  2. ive fitted on board air in my disco using a tmax compressor,ive got rid of the crappy fittings and air hose that came with it and have changed it to pcl fittings.ive got a better quality tyre inflator and have put a quick release fitting on this do these need a fibre washer between on as its leaking a small amount of air? thanks
  3. thanks for that ive already had the cover off to drain the oil and replace it, so know my gear is splined. thats good i dont need to replace it then cheers
  4. ive got an older 827 with the round freespool knob and motor without an earth. im about to get my hands on a bow 1 motor, now will i need a new motor gear, devon say on the website that its needed when upgrading the motor on older winches? ta, alex

  6. it was bought of ebay and advertised as 12mm, but it measures about 16mm pulled taught. maybe it is 12mm, could it become that loose that it looks that thick? ive never had it under proper tension. may just sell it and buy 125 of 11mm
  7. ive got 100ft of 14mm genuine plasma, ive not got the winch yet,its on its way, but how much is gonna fit on the drum?80ft? seems a shame to cut it really!
  8. can fiddle brakes be used as a traction aid. as someone who doesnt have arbs if i fitted them, when i got cross axled and the wheel with no weight on it was spinning, could that be locked to transfer drive to the wheel with the traction and weight on it? or is this likely to blow diffs, as i have simex style tyres
  9. yes there both ten spline. and i will use the same shame shafts as the threads will be different for them thanks
  10. ive blown the back diff in my disco. it seemed to go very easily, but then i do have special tracks fitted. anyway its got range rover axles, old ones and when i took the half shafts out the bolts are imperial. now ive got a 1992 range rover, and took a halfshaft out tonight to check it was a ten spline. it is but has metric bolts on it. what i ned to know is whether the diff eill fit in the disco? many thanks

  12. im adding treesliders to my disco and the bolts holding the body to outriggers have corroded so need to chop them off and replace them. what size are they? they have a 14mm or 9/16 head so are they m8? or are tey imperial? many thanks, alex

  14. hi im going to have to go and buy a torx bit to fit this, so what size is it please,embarassed to say ive not checke dthe level in the 18mths ive had my disco! i may just buy a set tho, ill look at prices thanks

  16. im wanting to extend the breathers on my axles and boxes, but dont wanna pay daft money for the kits. i think i want 6mm od hose which u can get on ebay and ill use push connectors to extend the transfer and gearbox breaters. but id like to put new fittings in the axles, now are they 1/4 bsp size? also what do people do with the timing cover? drill and tap it for a similar fitting? many thanks, alex

  19. as per title really will a td5 front prop foit straightonto my 200tdi? or does it need a different drive flange or something? thanks
  20. id say loose earth or slightly corroded too.clean it up and cover in copper grease avoid it rusting
  21. ive heard of people 'drilling the bushes', i assume the ones at the chassis end of the radius arms. does this help, is it safe to do so and hows it done? id appreciate any opinions many thanks, alex
  22. my mate has a perkins from an old jcb 3cv in his, and its real slow too
