Added you on facebook Rien. You should try to attend some Ultra4 events before you buy anything.

It's not too late as I haven't done much (if anything) on the Racer yet!
I've borrowed another TPS, so if all the resistances are the same and I deem it working ok, then as you say trying to encase the frayed wires could be an option.
I'll investigate further in the coming week, hopefully!
Steve
Steve photos of your TPS? I've got a few kicking around and i'll post you one if i've got one the same.
You going to enter any Ultra4 events this year?

a friend of mine drove his 110 2.2 into a flood a few weeks ago. Only problem it had when i was towed out was a faulty gearbox sensor!

The Surface tablets are pretty poor, if i were you I would sell it and buy a android tablet.

imho the LR chassis doesn't lend itself to extreme suspension geometry.
Also... it sounds like your spending far far to much money on an old discovery.

Something loose inside the timing chest is my bet!

fit the engine and gearbox/transferbox in one lump. It takes a bit of swearing but it saves laying on your back pushing a gearbox up. Done it many times!

So what about machinery, tractors, plant and lorrys... are we going to have to go to electric...
On another note, tractor MOT's are coming in shortly, and i presume a lot of the older tractors wont pass emissions or roadworthyness. Great for us in our new tractors with Adblue, but really really bad news for smaller farmers with old ropey tractors.

Your RRC should drive like any other td5 defender or discovery. I think by modifying things your going to cause yourself many headaches!

Bah who'd be into shiny road spec defenders anyway...

Id loosen the bolts on the winch and if the winch/mount is distorted.
if not, strip the winch, degrease the gearbox, then reapply some good quality grease, but not too much!
We just did the same to a TDS winch, the freespool has never ever been so good since new!

Put a jump pack or leads on it, or just charge the battery - after all the first thing the auto electrician is going to do is to charge/replace the battery...
There is an inhibitor solenoid on the shifter as part of the cars security system.
Its on it third battery, 2nd alternator and second starter motor in 2 months. Our local Land rover specialist have been taking my 84 year old Granddad for a right ride!!
Managed to find the bit you have to poke to be able to shift to neutral.
Now at an auto electricians.

My grandads freebie2 is dead, proper dead. I'm going to trailer it to a auto electrician to have them sort it. But how on earth do I get the auto shifter out of "park" so I can load it onto my trailer?

The defender appears to have had the EGR valve removed at a guess, this is a good thing!
-
Lots of people use rod ends in a-frame applications, on a land rover you need to use bigger joints!

degrease it, give it a little bit of a V groove, and lay some mig down.
