I know most of the guys on here are from down south but hopefully there's some up north too. Plus there's not really much organised up here especially for novices.
So here is the snippet from the website;
After you opened your presents on Christmas morning it’s all a bit boring until New Years Eve. So we’ve arranged in association with Need 4x4 to hold a novice/intermediate Challenge event on the 30th of December this year.
The Challenge is aimed at teams of two vehicles who are either fresh to the challenge scene or who have limited experience with a minimum of one winch per team. Teams must consist of two drivers and two co-drivers. Any vehicles/drivers who have competed in any major events such as Tay Forest Challenge, Muddy Truckers, Bulldog, etc will not be allowed to compete. Although it's a competition the emphasis is more on enjoying yourself and getting a buzz out of itm so give it a shot and you're guaranteed to enjoy it..
The event will consist of up to 40 punches placed around the site as well as possibly a few special stages thrown in for good measure. The punches will be indicated on a map at the start of the event and each punch identified by an individual number. A punch card will be attached to the vehicle by an event Marshal. This is where the visited punches will be collected, consequently the vehicle must get close enough to the punch to mark the card without removing either the card or the punch from their location.
Punches will be given varying value depending on the degree of difficulty. Special Stages may be on a time limit and points awarded according to the time taken. Each task will be monitored by a Marshal who will issue any instructions and record the results.
Cost per vehicle is £45 this includes the event fees and hot tea and coffee during the event (as it’s probably going to be a bit cold). Prizes will be awarded for the highest score in each class as well as some spot prizes.
A class system will be used as follows
Standard: Vehicles must be taxed for road use and may be equipped a maximum of one traction aid per vehicle e.g. a winch or a locking diff. If you have more aids than this class allows then you may disable them (proof required) to run in this class.
Modified: Vehicles must be taxed for road use and may be equipped with one or more of the following: Winches front & rear, Front and/or rear diff locks, Tyres larger than 32”
All vehicles must have current MOT test certificate, in addition all vehicles will be scrutineered before the event. They must also conform to the technical regulations.
Technical regulations and entry forms are available by e-mailing dave@cheviot4x4.com. Entry is by completing the entry form and sending £20 deposit to secure your place. There is a maximum of 20 teams & all entries must be received by the 20th December 2007.
