  1. I would be up for this. I am based in the Wirral and travel to manchester every weekday for work. Have seen loads of stuff go cheap on ebay when it wasn't economicaly viable to pick it up.

Im happy to help, I can cover Lancashire area and maybe pass on to either the scousers ^^^^^^ or Two sheds in Yorkshire, Having said that I may have to pass on any costs with regards to missing hub caps while im meeting the Wirral boys ;););)

  2. Thanks for the replies, saw the article in the new, excellent online Difflock magazine. Looked at the prices for that tour, pretty steep to 'tag along' at £850 for a week! Our French is only a little better than our Portuguese, so we couldn't translate enough of the Landmania site to know what's what.. We'd already found the site on the Swiss Calendar. There's also the Dutch 20th Anniversary meet in May which I found on a listing of European LR Clubs at http://www.lrfaq.org/FAQ.5.clubs.europe.html That site could be really useful but seems very out of date. I have a pal who helps organise the 'Landy Rally' but it looks like a main road blast to the Pyrenees and back in a week. We like to see more than the roads! If only there was a weeks camping in the middle.

Next job is to buy a decent tent..

    Hi,

Last year we went to the Pyrenees, and spent 5 days exploring the mountains, we had a great time so much so that we have booked to go again this year

We wanted a guided tour just for ease and went with theese guys (holiday) made some good freinds and saw some amazing things

  3. Ahh, well that is an entirely different subject. Can't argue with that, but then we come back to the questions raised earlier in this thread as to how much responsibility the magazines should be aportioned in these situations. Should we insist that magazines only show things which can be verified / certified / approved by a panel of people ?

There are magazines and journalists who only ever write about stuff that is "donated" for review... and strangely enough that particular bit of kit always seems to be the latest and greatest thing... I won't name names, but these things don't go unnoticed by either the advertisers or readers. This is clearly extremely misleading and does absolutely nothing for the credibility of the magazines, for the confidence of the advertisers or for furthering the knowledge of less-experienced readers.

Here's what I'd like to see... and I say this as an enthusiast, an advertiser and knowing a fair few journalists very well.... Let's have a magazine that isn't scared to tell the truth. If Devon 4x4 produced a product which was terrible... let them review it, let them tell people.... BUT (and avoiding terrible American puns) this is a big BUT... make sure it is done by people with relevant, real experience of what they are talking about. If someone is reviewing winches, it is to be hoped that they have actually had the experience and knowledge needed to make a decent, factually correct article. The number of times I have read articles from self-appointed "experts" about how to build a vehicle, why a certain product is great, how an event should be run, etc. etc. knowing full well that either what they are writing is completely incorrect, or that the person involved has barely ever driven a car let alone built one just pains me.

The format works in all sorts of other industries and in the end, I reckon that everyone wins... the magazines get more credibility, the readers get better and more accurate information and the suppliers have to up their game to make sure that standards are maintained. Maybe I'm asking too much..

I need a cup of tea.

Off topic but we have a tradition on this site, where suppliers give a forum discount?????? :P:P:P

    what do you reckon????

  4. There's no cure. If there was, would you want it? :P

Pity you said 90/110 not 88/109 but no-one's perfect I suppose  a TDi 110 is a reasonably sensible daily drive and a capable off-roader. I find 90's too small to be useful really, by the time you've put your lunchbox and a tow rope in the back it's full up.

Totaly agree there is no cure I drive a 300 tdi 90 csw but like fridge says way to small looking for 110 now, wouldnt drive anything else than a defender of some discription

  5. Hi I have just been changing the oxygen sensor on our P38 range rover to clear an outstanding fault (p1158) I guess that when it says right hand side it means from sitting in the seat not looking at the engine?:unsure::unsure:

Any way it keeps showing this code up which I have even less idea about:

    Code Make Description

P1179 Land Rover AMFR Correction At Maximum Negative Value

    Any ideas please

    thanks

  6. I personaly would have nothing to do with BT, I have virgin for my broadband and sky telly when I joind sky I explaned that their was no way on earth I would have a BT line on the house they charged a extra one of payment of £25 and let me join with out a phone line,

Seriously stay with cable I phoned them the other week told them I had been offered a 20mb connection for £20 they matched it but woth out a download limit

  7. My apologies it seems at some stage it had been blacked out on the red of the switch, when i looked at it you could see the out line of where it should be red on the switch so cleaned it of hey presto I have a red warning on my switch but the bulb apears to have blown :angry :(:(:(

  8. I also have a Red Triangle on my dash dial display... this obviously does the same as the one in the switch!

If you haven't got a red triangle on your dash then yes, the switch needs one!

Do you realy have time to be on 4x4 forums shouldnt you be making plackards ready to blockade protest around oil refineries,
