Hi all I need to replace the turbo on my 300tdi 110. There's huge variance on price out there from 'new' turbos at £230 (made to what standard, out of what materials/ how long will they last?) to £650. Does anyone have recommendations --where can I get one from that will last but at a reasonable price? thanks

JATE = Joint Air Transport Establishment. They are intended for under-slinging the vehicle with rotary wing aircraft and for lashing on decks inside hercules (in my day) and I think they are used for lashing on HM ships, but matelots might have different ideas

Does anyone know the SWL/WLL of MoD spec JATE rings (RRC 3237)? thanks

Can anyone tell me if ALR9946 is the right part number for a 1995 300tdi Defender 110 bulkhead/instrument panel? Thanks.

I want to upgrade the external lights on my 110 Defender 300tdi to LED without having to drill new holes in the bodywork. I understand that RDX make some easy fit plinths for NAS LEDs that use existing holes. Can anyone help answer the following questions: Do NAS LEDs mounted on these easy fit plinths overhang the body thus making the light vulnerable to damage? How do RDX NAS LEDs compare to WIPAC? Or should I be looking at other brands altogether? Will Wipac and/or other brand makes of NAS LEDs fit onto RDX plinths? Thanks for any help and advice you can give.

300tdi Turbo Allisport kit
Sunray-I40 replied to cackshifter's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
the full width allisport intercooler i put on my 300tdi 110 last summer added 30% to the power and increased acceleration very noticeably. If I drive at the old speed, as I used to have to, the MPG is higher. But now I can accelerate too easily and drive quicker - and the mpg is as it was before the upgrade (29.5 mpg round town). -
just had a Richards chassis put on my 110 by paul marsden who is right beside Richards. They were all delightful to deal with and thoroughly helpful. No hesitation in recommending them

My whole exhaust system is rotting and will soon need replacing on my 1995 Defender 300tdi CSW 110. I am considering the expensive stainless steel route. I'd like to increase mpg and unlike some I don't want noise! What are the advantages of stainless apart from longevity, and what systems are recommended (and for what reason)? If there's already a thread on this, I haven't found it! thanks

If I'm repeating another thread - please refer me to it! Otherwise... I'm starting to fit out my 1995 300tdi 110 CSW for long trips. I'm starting to think about auxiliary fuel tanks and would appreciate advice as I've seen several sizes, materials and positioning from the various manufacturers. 1. on a 110 5 door county what are the size and position options and what are the pros and cons of each? 2. Is there much to be gained from paying the extra for stainless steel? 3. what do people do about fuel tank gauges? 4. has anyone done a twin tank conversion and used diesel in one for starts, with veg oil in the other to switch over to when the engine is hot? what tanks did you use?

Does anyone know anyone who can make bespoke defender bumpers - clive at Black sheep has stopped. Basically I want a military pattern bumper with centre recovery/trailer shunting slot but thicker steel, with inset fog lights and mesh guards, A bar with series style recovery eyes, and welded in hi lift jack points.

For the battery ignorant like me, what does the numax cxv x 1000 do that the cxv24mf doesn't or vice versa? are both batteries dual purpose (ie starter and leisure)? thanks -

numax seems to be mentioned by 4x4 dealers for aux/leisure. i wonder what their main/starters are like? -

that's what he said - i double checked... they have had to send replacement batteries around the world for overland trips they fitted out with odyssey. somewhere i read that the pc1500 manufacturing might be subbed out but i am not sure of that. -
What are people's recommendations for main and aux/leisure batteries? I know one 4x4 dealer will no longer sell odyssey 1500s as so many they have sold have failed, and I am hearing mixed reports about Optima. I need to replace both my batteries and would appreciate the latest thinking for a cost-effective solution!
