  1. Cheers. There are a few peoples cars I ram rade in my head regularly but wouldn't do it for real lol. All it needs to do is look pretty and hold a pair of spotlights so I can blind all the people who use there ruddy fog lights in all weather but fog!
  2. I recently bought a nudge bar for my Discovery 2 facelift. But I don't have the bolts that are needed to secure it to the car. Are these cheap and easy to get hold of? Or is there a proper kit that can be bought that includes them? The only brackets that came with it are for the top.
  3. There is no oil in the plug at the ECU end. The garage I took it to said that a tiny amount of oil was starting to get onto the wires but no inside yet and that was a few months ago. But the symptoms aren't a full time miss-fire when the engine is cold. If you put it in either D or R and start to move with the revs at around 2000 rpm the car shakes like it is not running on all cylinders. But if I leave the engine to run for about a minute before I drive off then it is smooth and it idles smoothly. No starting troubles at all etc... I am planning on getting under the bonnet next weekend and do a little maintenance including cleaning the EGR just in case that is causing the fault and tomorrow I have a friend going under it with a an inspection lamp and camera to trace the oil leak.
  4. Could this be a sign of oil getting into the injector wiring loom? The garage that did the fuel valve and cylinder leak said the was a tiny amount of oil getting onto the outside of the wiring and not to worry.
  5. Hi, my TD5 2002 Facelift Discovery fairly recently has developed a fault that I thought was down to a steering component as it shook the car when driving. But today with the nice weather I had my windows opened and after not using the Discovery for a week I put it in reverse and started accelerating and felt a vibration, so stopped and put it in park and revved it a little and and it was sort of coughing and making the whole car shake. I drove it gently for a few miles and as the engine warmed up the problem went away. I looked in my mirrors and I couldn't see any smoke but at the same time my windows are tinted so may stop me from seeing any minor smoking issues. I drove it over 50 miles without any other issues apart from it starting to leave a very small puddle of oil outside of Beefeater. I know that I have a split breather pipe, and an oil leak that I haven't found the source of yet, Any ideas what could be causing this? Cheers
  6. I decided to have a drive out and detoured to Woodchurch. I visited both garages, the first one was on that horrible corner (Woodchurch Garage), and Graham is off long term at the moment due to having a major op recently, but I was told to come back or call on Tuesday when the Jeremy is in. Seemed like a nice garage. And I figured, as I was a couple of hundred yards from the other little garage there that Nick owns I would try him too, but his garage was all locked up. So no joy. However I have discovered that the shaking is not down to the steering. I happened to have my window open fully and the engine was miss firing when revving it up and shaking the car. Once the engine was warm it went completely. And oddly the oil loss had stopped for the week, but while I was stopped at a restaurant in Ashford, I happened to be seated by the window near my car and saw a small oil puddle under the car. I am a little worried now.
  7. If I get time I am going to try and pop into one of the above garages in Woodchurch possibly today. At the very least to meet the owners and hopefully get the Landy booked in next week.
  8. With everything that has gone on being honest I forgot I had asked before. Reb78 could you pm me the address of the one that is land rover trained please? I will head over to them early next week. Cheers
  9. Definitely too far for me. But cheers anyway.
  10. My Disco 2 TD5 Auto is in need of some work now. The work includes locating the source of an oil leak, and a quick check over and possibly some more work. But I am looking for a long term reliable mechanic not too far from Rye, East Sussex if possible please. The garage I was using other than my now ex business partner is too busy for me and sometimes has my cars up to a week sitting round doing nothing (The cars not the mechanic doing nothing) as he gets behind with other jobs. Not that I am complaining about his work quality. But I can't leave my car with someone for that long plus I am having to book up to 3 weeks in advance to get anything in to him. So I need to find another garage or mechanic who is preferably a Land Rover nut / specialist but not essential. Sorry for the rambling. And I know that any information given is not gospel and is only opinions. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
  11. Thank you. I have just looked up on youtube to see how to check it and will give a tug tomorrow.
  12. Hi, I have a problem that started about 2 weeks ago, and it is happening more and more now, When I put my foot down on the accelerator from stand still after first starting the car, it feels like there is no turbo boost, I can put the accelerator to the floor and there is no boost at all and it accelerates very slowly, then all of a sudden it feels like something lets go of the car and and the power is amazing, most times when I accelerate after this has happened the first time it gives me no trouble at all. But weather it is a hot or cold start most of the time this happens on the first attempt when I need to accelerate fast out of a junction. I hope that I have explained that properly. I have a 2002 TD5 Discovery Auto with 108000 miles on it. All advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  13. Cheers Western. Mines the ES model.
  14. I have tried 5 different stereo's and couldn't see an aerial before. I will have a look tomorrow. Thanks
  15. Hi, I have found that no matter what stereo I put in my 2002 Facelift Discovery, that the radio signal is really bad on most stations except for Radio 1, and it is a lot worse when I am driving along. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what is the fix please? Cheers in advance.
  16. I have looked a couple of times but nothing has come up that I like yet. But will keep looking.
  17. A friend of mine has a D2 Commercial that they bought as converted to a 5 seater, It is a 54 plate with 220000 Miles on the clocks with a replacement engine. I will go and have a play with that using all the advice above as practice for when I go out looking properly. Thank you everyone.
  18. Thank you. To me this reads, the D2 has just as many problems as the D1, just more costly to sort. These posts have been incredibly helpful and have not deterred me at all from wanting a D2. Although I may wait a little longer for 1. But only around an extra month if the Blue one I have found turns out to not be the right one for me which is in West Yorkshire and not North Yorkshire like I thought for some reason, I am not too worried about weather I buy from a dealer or not as such, but buying from a dealer using a credit card gives me more back up if things were to go wrong because the dealer turned out to have sold me a dodgy motor knowingly. Not that I believe that this will happen. But I am hoping to have a Discovery outside my house by Christmas.
  19. Forecourt as in car dealer forecourt and will be paying by credit card for extra protection.
  20. History wont repeat itself, don't worry there, I am planning on getting a Discovery 2 off a forecourt so that it comes with a warranty. I have no intentions of throwing my D2's budget at the D1 as it stil doesn't solve the issue that I need an Auto for my every day runabout. And the D1 is only being kept for the business as it proved to be ultra reliable before and wont only be driven by me.
  21. Please dumb down a couple of things for me What is ACE? What are the 3 Amigos? Did Land Rover not correct the Chassis Problem on the later D2's? or was it not corrected until the D3's came out? I will be checking the Chassis thoroughly anyway though and 1 of the first jobs I will be doing is waxoyl or the equivalent treating all of the underneath etc...
  22. I didn't say I can't afford the inner wings at all. But right now it isn't worth me putting the money into it to do that job as 80% of the patchwork welding had already been done before it was too late. And getting a Discovery 2 Auto is something I am getting in addition to the Discovery 1. The Discovery 1 is going to be more as a back up towing vehicle and back up run around, parts collection vehicle and the Discovery out of the 2 that I will be more adventurous off road although the Discovery 2 will be taken off road.
  23. I have found 1 that I like, it has 2 owners, 149000 Miles, its in North Yorkshire, This is the description and it is on a dealer forecourt. LAND ROVER DISCOVERY TD5 2.5 GS AUTO, 2002, 52 Reg, 149,000 Miles, MOT History, 2 Former Keepers, 7 Seater, PAS, Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, Remote Central Locking Alarm & Immobiliser, Spare Key, CD Player, Spoked Alloys, Side Steps, Tow Bar, Climate, Twin Sunroofs, MOT Oct 2014, Taxed Until 31/01/14, Very Clean 4x4 For Year & Miles, Runs & Drives Very Well, Sorry for the advert being so big, I copied and pasted it on to this post. And thanks for the advice. I am not put off the D2's by that information though, although how much is a spring suspension conversion on average?
  24. From next week I am starting to look for my next Discovery to add to my household, My green 300TDi is soon to be back on the road, but I am going to be buying a TD5 Auto Facelift (2002 onwards), I have already started looking on line but not in a position to buy one for a few more weeks. What do I need to look out for on the facelift TD5's please?
  25. I have listened to everything and went to Halfords today where I spent about £75, I got a refill bottle I think it is a 2.5 litre bottle and a 5 litre bottle, I looked for the air gun attachment spray gun but they didn't have any at the one I went to, So had to buy the Waxoyl brand own attachment high pressure spray gun and the wand thing. I accidentally let spent a lot more than I meant to today and have gone over my immediate budget as I also had to stop at my local Land Rover specialist where I collected the rear body mount bushes, rear discs and pads, front washer jets and something to do with the wheel seals which came to £86. I know I don't have enough under seal to do the whole car, but I am confident I have enough to at least do the areas that have been welded and then will do inside and outside of the chassis rails and then as much as I can until I run out, then in about 3 weeks I can buy another 5 litre tin and finish the rest of the car. But again, Thank you soo much everyone for all your help and advice.
