Is the power steering box (4 bolt) the same on Classic R/Rovers, Discos and 90s? I need a new box on my 90 and am trying to decide on a recon or 2nd hand from a breakers. If I go for the 2nd hand option I'll get my old box reconed and then tapped so I can add hydro assist later....

I know it's a bit late but in the past my local steel fabricators have let me take stuff out of their scraps bin...Always worth a try for small bits...

To be honest I thought it was one of those to good to be true things. I was thinking about being a cheapskate when doing things like the inside of the doors and out the way places that doen't get much wear. I will probably use bilthumber stuff as they are only a few mins down the road. I've also got a tin of zinc rich paint which I will start splashing about...

Thanks chaps.... I did realise that I would need to sort out the exsisting steering first, I just thought hydro would make it last longer and add strength.... I'll try the Adwest box first though.... John Oh and thnaks for keeping it simple...

Hi, I'm new to this so if I say/ask something stupid feel free to laugh......
I'm thinking of putting hydro assist on my 90. It's got pas and I'm running on 33x12x15s BFG MTs. The problem I've got is that the steering keeps going loose. The steering wheel has 3 or 4 inches of play in it. I had the steering stripped and rebuilt last year...I was told that nothing needed replacing but it was all loose. Now a year and 5000 miles later it's loose again. I was thinking of rebuilding and adding hydro assist...
1) What do people think about this?
2) Does any do a kit or is there a supplier I could ring and order all the parts from here or in the USA?
3) Please keep replies simple.... Thanks....

You can always stick " free woodwork plans" into your search engine and you'll get plans for everything in wood including work benches....
Hi lift jack mounting on front bumper

I can't remember the correct wording but you would be committing an offense by placing it on the front of the bumper. Putting it on top may still be an offense but less likely to get you stopped. The law is the same one that stops you taking the bumper off and leaving the brackets on the car. It's all about having a flat surface if you hit a pedestrian and not ripping them apart, if memory serves correct it's also an offense to have fuel cans mounted on the front, rear or sides of a car....
