Only to the extent I can use the pre-designed top mounts, Still undecided if I’m going to truss it. With the 3.5” x 3/8” wall axle tubes it seems a bit overkill.... other than that it just looks neater.

Can still aim your diffs next to a rock. Bit harder to do when they're not in line.
99% of North America trucks have a centred rear diff & offset front....if it really becomes an issue....we’ll, it’s just an excuse for bigger tires 😉

So, decided to run the numbers on a centred diff housing rather than offsetting it to align with the front one. Doesn’t work out that much difference, just under 5” due to the offset pinion in the 9” diff.
Time will tell if this is a good move or not.... but for now am getting the rear axle tubes cut & the stubs fitted at the local machine shop. Then time to assemble it.-

Braved the 30+ degrees heat & burned wire this week. Really happy how this centre section turned out. Only had a small area of porosity in one weld that needed to be ground out & redone.
Few pictures of the assembly process & finished product before it gets a quick clean up with a flap wheel to smooth out the sharp edges.

Any benefits to being centred? I suppose you get equal clearance and interchangeable 1/2 shafts but the downside is it doesn't line up with the front diff so will plough its own furrow?
It looks neater.... and I don’t need a truss to mount the top link brackets onto. Half shafts will still be unequal due to the offset of the ring gear but with 1.5” 35splines its a non-issue and can’t plow furrows in rocks 😉

Thanks Mike, were you running UJ’s or a UJ/DC joint combo ?

Almost at the point of getting the axle tubes made for my custom 609’s for my D100” build. Was wondering if there was anyone here running a centred diff and were drive line vibes an issue ?
Thanks !

Second batch of centre section parts are cut & bent up, next to weld them out & decided which will look the best for the rear axle.... 😉

The Q&A video says it’ll have a CDL & front / rear lockers will be optional extras.

The wife wants one in purple.... with a H/D bumper, winch & rock sliders. When will it be available in Canada ?

Ordered another set of housing cut & bent parts along with the remaining caliper brackets. Once here we’ll get those welded up and the back axle assembled with tubes 😃

We really want to move to Squamish, but the commute in to Delta every day may be a little long I think.
We only had a quick stop over last time, so once everything is clear, we will come over for a couple of weeks.
Oh dear... another lower mainlander..... 🤣

Thanks Mo, that should work... drew up these lower inner wing panels, they'll attached to the original front tab & will add a second tab off the inside bolt on the spring tower that holds the bump stop mounts in. Can then work to draw the rest up as I'll have a solid datum. I wanted them to be easily removable with the wings in place for cleaning & maintenance, this should work well.

75mm Andy
Mo
Thanks Mo, spent a couple of hours yesterday on it and think I’ve come up with a good compromise that’ll work with the later type, will check it out with that dimension.
BTW, the end of the collapse casting looks to be about 150mm from the UJ centre pivot and about same diameter?

Looking good
Me and the Mrs are hoping to get over to BC soon when all this dies down, got some potential job interviews.
6 months of summer is better than what we get in the UK!
😂
Where are you planning on moving too ?

For ‘missingsid’, here are a couple of pics under my drivers side wing. I currently have the old type of lower steering shaft RTC4738 but the large collapse section is getting in the way of making some sheet inner wings.
Could someone measure the diameter of the black flex disc in the later QME500031, can get an idea then of how much space I have to work with.
Thanks

They’ll need to be angled down a bit to get the vertical separation for the links, shouldn’t be a real issue and a drain hole can always be added.
