  1. My better half (Pete Attryde) has already posted his thanks but I'd like to add mine too and as I was in charge of the camera I've fought for the right to post the pics! Was lovely to meet everybody (either again or for the first time) and Neil/Les did a great job leading our group so special thanks to them! Maybe if all the "little jobs" are done on the 90 in time for next year I might get to go behind the wheel and Pete can be photographer for a change! Jin
  2. Not specifically a Land Rover breakers but I've had parts from Billy Bridges Breakers near Crawley and they would be just up the A23 from you. Not sure if you've already tried there but they usually have a wide variety of vehicles. Jin
  3. Cheers Mo, Pete's been going on about wanting a Defender so maybe I can be persuaded now if I get to keep the Dicsovery?!! All we'd need to do is find somewhere to park it as the drive is already full! Jin
  4. Cheers Jen, Well, who knows! Pete caught me reading his GLASS mag the other day and I've started paying more attention when he's talking about the mods he wants to do to the Discovery. I have been known to do the occasional oil change in my time so maybe I need to get out and give him a hand with some of the jobs instead of just pringing regular tea and sarnies!! Jin
  5. Thanks Tris - I decided I'd better have a go as you don't whether you like something until you try it! Plus at least I feel I'm getting some benefit from Pete spending so much time tinkering with the Discovery! Look forward to meeting you in the Peaks if not sooner at Mike's! Jin
  6. Thanks Western - I've definately been biten by the bug! Noggy - be good to see you in November if you can make it. We're not too far from the Peaks so it would be good to make some "local" friends to then perhaps do more regular day trips out laning! Jin
  7. Well, after getting a taste of off-roading when Pete and I went on the Lakes trip last November, I finally got a chance to get behind the wheel and have a go myself. We took a trip down to Bala 4x4 today for a Pay and Play session and after Pete did a once round all the tracks to get a feel for the lay of the land, I asked to have a go! The course was not very big really and there wasn't quite enough shallow water/mud for my liking but it was great fun! I successfully went up and down slopes and through a couple of fairly shallow bits of water. I know, I know, all sounds a bit tame but for only my third time of being in a car off road I think I did pretty well! Here are a few piccies to prove it too! Can't wait for the trip to the Peak District this November now! Jin
  8. And hopefully we will have a dog (or dogs) by this time too so any recommendations for dog friendly B&B's etc in the area would be appreciated!
  9. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned my pet hate at the moment - cars with only one working head light, who then go to full beam because they can't see a bloody thing with only one light! Down the country lanes they look like a motorbike coming towards you until you get close enough to realise that it's actually a car and because they have no idea how wide their car is (and they could move over by about 4 feet at least!) you have to practically dive into the hedge to avoid them!!! Grrrrrr !
  10. What do you mean get him to sort it out? - I'll get the spanners out myself and have a tinker!!! On second thoughts ...
  11. 78% - not a pass but I'm quite chuffed with that what with my GCSE Physics being quite a while ago now and me driving a desk for a living! Oh - and I'm a girl and everybody knows girls know nothing about engineering Jin
  12. Well, having spent much of the past year reading posts over Pete's shoulder I decided to sign up and post for myself! I have to say it was a fantastic weekend. Everybody made me feel very welcome and it was great to put faces to some of the names (and stories) I'd seen on here. I started the weekend having a bit of a whinge to Kat about being a "Landy Widow" and finished it by asking Pete to sort out the throttle pedal on the Disco so I can reach it well enough to have a go next time! Here's a link to the rest of the piccies I took (not on a par with Ruperts but some are ok). We would definately be up for another Lakes trip or Yorkshire! Mrs Pete (aka Jin)
