  1. Cheers for all the advice guys. I'll order the new tank this week. Guess I was just trying to avoid opening my wallet for a bit! Just a bit annoying as I took the tank off last year to change the fuel pump. Seemed fine then but has since rotted through! As it has obviously started to rust through I assume there will be rusty deposits in my fuel? It's only just under a 1/4 full so it's not too bad if I lose it. Runs on LPG anyway so I only need it for starting her. I'll stop waffling now and order me tank! Thanks again.
  2. Cheers Steve, I understand now! Where abouts on the south coast are you? Got to travel to Plymouth soon. Mrs also likes going to Brighton for the weekend. Anywhere near either of them?! How much do you want for it mate? Is it the multivent EFi jobby? Cheers Sorry, excuse my ignorance! Waterlooville is where you are. Just checked route planner and it's bang where i'm not going. Thanks anyway.
  3. Cheers Paintman. Sorry to be thick but what and where is the pickup pipe and how would I adjust it if I need to?
  4. Cheers highway. That makes sense. Stone guard is being forced off by corrosion underneath. Can't even bodge it then. B@llocks. Only upside is I had it off last year (the tank ) and put a new pump in. All pipes and connections were sound so I'm not worried about taking it off/changing it. Only thing I'm not looking forward to is yet ANOTHER BLOODY HOLE in my wallet!
  5. Whilst fiddling and fannying for what feels like days messing about with the A frame etc, I noticed my fuel tank has a very slight (and I mean SLIGHT) leak from one of the bottom seams. . Manifesting itself as a wet patch on the bottom of the tank. Anyway, I can see where the gap is so is it ok to run a bead of fuel resistant copper silicone stuff along it for now (bodge it) or do i need a new tank? Or is there a way of sealing it from the inside. Is it an MOT fail? Can I get a plastic one (multivent EFi)? If so where from? Cheers
  6. In case anyone is interested... Almost done! Polybushes in A Frame arms, new ball joints in brackets, new A Frame ball joint inserted with hydraulic press (can't believe I got the old one out with a standard hammer ), new nuts and bolts, all ready to go back in in the morning. Learnt 2 things doing this: 1: My levelling unit is a nice blue colour, not black. 2: I wouldn't do this job again if someone paid me . Thanks for all your advice guys, much appreciated.
  7. Cheers Nige, thought so. I'll try the garage int' morning then
  8. Hi all, got the old A frame ball joint out with LOTS of effort. Says in the manual to 'press' the new one in. Has anyone done this and is there a method? Or do I need to go to the local garage for the use of a hydraulic press?
  9. Cheers Roverdrive, I know what you mean. Looked through all my old mountain biking tools and found some cone spanners to fit. They're only 2-3mm thick, i.e. ideal! Until I found them my hand was hovering over the grinder and my spanner collection was looking scared... again!
  10. Thanks guys, will do a search. Learn something new everyday...
  11. Please excuse my ignorance all but what is megasquirting?! Sounds interesting.
  12. Cheers sheltie, I'll be try to be ready when the unit is finally (hopefully) ready to be released! Car's pretty clean underneath so hopefully things should come undone! After this saga I'll be sure to update this thread when the job is finally done!
  13. Cheers Hoggy. I'm going to tackle the jumbo nuts off the vehicle like you did. I've got the big vice, and a welder just in case. Picking up a bloody big socket tomorrow (will look out for chamfered edges). And if all that fails I've got some bloody big hammers!
  14. No, didn't get one in the end, the tool shop I went to didn't have the size. Thanks for all the research and input though. I'll still need a 45mm socket for getting the big nut out once the joints are off the vehicle. I see the bit you mean now twosheds, 16mm spanner size I have since found out... Which brings me smoothly to... thanks to camel. Yes they are for the bin so i'll give your option a go first. Cheers guys, really appreciate it.
  15. Thanks for your help twosheds. Much appreciated. That's a bloody big spanner! Cheers mate.
  16. Cheers twosheds. Got a funny feeling I may have the same experience! I forsee a hell of a lot of swearing going on this afternoon! Just per chance I do get as far as replacing the ball joints, what type of grease should I pack them with? Just standard, off the shelf in halfords castrol greasy grease?
  17. Hi all. Does anyone know the size of spanner needed for separating the lower shaft of the levelling unit from it's ball joint pin? Says in the manual "unscrew the lower ball joint at the levelling unit push rod, using thin jawed spanners". Just going to purchase said spanners and I'd prefer to know the size on the way rather than going all the way to the lockup where the beast is residing, measuring what's needed, and then having to go back out again to mr spanner seller. Boring thread I know! Quite frankly a bit selfish... But saves a trip!
  18. Has anyone ever tried getting two door parts from France? Am I right in saying they continued to manufacture them for the french market long after the British one? And well after the CSK. Has anyone noticed the mint two door that gets crashed in one of the chases round Paris in the first Bourne film? Just a thought...
  19. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus. I wish I'd just purchased a 2008 Supercharged . That is a BEAUTIFUL car mate. Have fun with it.
  20. Three spoke RR alloys are tubeless aren't they? Mine are. What year is your vehicle? I assume as you say according to the parts list you can do either. Your local tyre fitting specialist should be able to tell you. Also doesn't it say on your tyres if they're tubeless or not? Mine do.
  21. Ha! Nice one disco al, i also play the saw. We should form a band and play in the underpass next to Steels! What colour's your vehicle mate? I'll give you a wave if i see you round town. Mine's an F reg black vogue.
  22. Ah, thanks geoffbeaumont. Just re-read the original thread and realise i have been a complete tosser, i thought he meant newport as in the **** pit in south wales. I shall read more carefully in future. I shall therefore re-phrase my answer: I live in hereford so i'll keep an eye out if anyone tries to bring it into this sleepy, hill-billy, deliverance-like backwater. I'm off now to sit on my mates porch and play my banjo at strangers.
  23. I live in Hereford so I'll keep an eye out if the buggers try to bring it into England!
  24. All wired and working! I found that the darker colour of the two is the + when i wired them. i.e. with the red and pink, the red is +. Brown is + and orange is +. only one i'm not sure of is the blue/green. Didn't wire the rear speakers.
  25. Thanks paintman, you're a legend mate. Really appreciate it. :)
