  1. Hi Mate i tend to mount my GPS ontop of the snorkel for overland travel. I have experienced grief in some african countries where they want to inspect everything bolted onto the landy. The small gps mouse is very reliable although |I have had one fail. more importantly they do not stand out too much Ashley
  2. Yes this is very good news, however the LEZ people are still insisting that I will be affectet in 2010. They seem to still be confused themselves. I have sent them numerous letters and have received much rubbish from them I will have another bash at them next week and keep you informed Ashley

  5. Hi I have been looking for the inner window trim to fit the rear small windows on CSW defender 300tdi Has anyone got a pair, i've tried the breakers in the mags but none have them Thanks Ashley
  6. I fitted an eberspacher which I picked up on ebay I also fitted a telephone switch to it which I made from a vellman kit www.vellman-kit.com or http://www.sayalkits.com/CatalogDetail.asp?link=11Z4 cost about £15 but you'll have to order from Canada or the states as the Britisg govt apparently banned the sale of them, as they thought they were an aid to terrorism?? I can now call the landie prior to getting in and it will switch on the heater. I also have a switch inside the cab to turn it on if the landy heater is a little bit weak. I have found that you can get a little more heat out of the matrix if you remove the fan during the cold periods Also the vents that direct the heat towards your feet, ie the one under the dash and steering wheel, if you remove the plastic bits that direct the heat towards your feet you will get much more air flow and heat out of it. I have noticed on my 300tdi that at cold temperatures when driving in urban conditions I get very little heat out of the heater, but if I floor the landie for 10 secs or so I get a short burst of warmer air. This suggests to me that if one were to increase water flow across the matrix more heate would come out. I am going to look at fitting an electric water pump to see whether this is the case, or fit a smaller cog to the water pump to make the pump spin faster hope that helps Ashley
  7. Yes I did the P to D in 2004. My wife and I did it in an old 2cv wuith some friends in an ice cream van. Its good fun. Choose a car that does lots of miles to the gallon. The Plymouth Dakar run is just under 5000 miles. If you choose to do it in an old V8 or a 4x4 it will cost you alot more in fuel. Whilst these trips sound cheap it ended up costing my wife an I nearly £2k each. Fuel, ferry, visas, accomodation, flight back, bribes across border (Senegal it was 70 quid each). It is well worth it and you'll meet some great if somewhat essentric people

  11. Hi I have a 300tdi 1994 defender. Over the past year there has been a noticeable power loss from the engine. I had a big intercooler fitted and the landy would fly along. Now I am struggling to get more than 65 mph on the motorway and up hills I can only go in 1st gear I replaced the turbo as the blades were bent. No difference in power. I tested the cylinders and all of equal pressure. I then had the fuel lift pump replaced and the injection pump rebuilt. Still no power The turbo does whistle a little at hi revs, but so did the replacement one Any ideas Ashley
  12. A friend of mine who fortunately lives in Barbados has recently bought a new Range Rover. Apparently there is a code that is required to activate the bluetooth reciver in the Range Rover. Land Rover have disabled the bluetooth as there is some law in Barbados not allowing bluetooth devices to operate. Does any one know what the code is or where I might get the code? Thanks Ashley
