  1. Glad I spent a few quid on some plugs for the timing cover and bell housing for Brick Kiln mud wading I'm always amazed at how little you need to spend to stop a big load of hassle (wading plugs, breathers, tank guard...). Have fun at Bunny L
  2. Very easy. Remove bumper - two bolts Remove two bolts through rear crossmember-probably need grinder!! Remove the two bolts that hold the stays onto chassis. Put bumper back on Job done. Why are you removing it?
  3. Second that...that was me anchoring Andy's winch motor. A good site - only bust a wing mirror! Nice one Shires! HBLRO take a leaf out of their book!!!
  4. Too late. Their advice is to "pry bar" it into place to align the holes!!!! Won't be buying off them again! Cr*p customer service....
  5. Hi Anybody got any experiences of fitting a Scorpion Tank Guard to their Classic? Trying to fit one to my '93 Tdi and looking for some top tips. Cheers
  6. I've fitted Britpart HD springs all round last August and they haven't sagged (yet).. if they do then I'll be straight on the phone to Britpart Customer Service!!! Can you elaborate on the "word n the street"...?
  7. What he said. Their website also has a check to see whether it is seized or not.....
  8. Do you want a lift in the morning then?
  9. I've just put new Britpart Yellow HD springs (std height) all round with new Britpart shocks. They are compliant springs and I can vouch that they are a good ride. Not harsh. Came as a kit from Paddocks. Let me know if you want more details. I'm in Hampshire but still welcome to come down and try it!
  10. Might have sussed it...one bulb missing, one blown. Plunger was stuck in = rev lights would have been permanently on! Last owner must have removed the good bulb! Doh! Teach me to check basics first. Had to take gearbox cover off anyhow to fix the lack of reverse gate resistance... Thanks for all the pointers....
  11. Thanks but I'm further down the "road" than that. Reverse plunger assembly already off vehicle.... I'm bypassing that by manualling pushing the reverse light switch.....
  12. Any ideas on this? Reversing lights were not working so, Got a new rev light switch and attached to the loom. Ignition on and press the switch - still no lights! Will check feed tomorrow. Fuse is OK as it covers other things.... Any pointers welcome.
  13. Having had an Mreg 300Tdi Soft Dash Classic and a K reg factory fit 200Tdi Classic I would recommend the 200Tdi anyday..... All soft dash's seem to rot more (bonnets, sills, rear body cross member). Some say the 200 is a better engine all round than the 300.... The soft dash has a more modern interior but has a lot more electronic gadgetery (ABS, TC). Avoid air suspension soft dash - they were "experimental" and not reliable. Conversion kits to springs are avaialble from Paddocks etc. My current 200Tdi has no TC and no ABS and is very easy to work on...I'm no mechanic (marine biologist!) and I find it easy enough to work on!! I do have some knowledgable mates though! Can't comment on V8 versions other than they require regular oil changes. Tdi - check history for cam belt changes at 60K (or less). 300Tdi - check P gasket (coolant leak on offside of block) and cam belt mod (stops shredding) has been done - you can see why I favour the 200! Hope that helps....
