I'm in the market for a tidy pillar drill for metalwork, any recomendations based on personal experience?
My criteria so far is:
Floor mounted
13mm chuck, maybe even jacobs/morse taper
230v 13amp
variable speed, with very slow speed for hole sawing through steel
It needs a proper engineering bolt down vice
i'd like to get plenty of years use out of it so don't say Clarke
Budget about £3/400

There's a horizontal row of rivets along top of the wheel box top section into the rear pannel, a couple down the side of the wheel box and then a bunch down through the floor pannel into the rear body crossmember. Hope this helps

Try ebay and it should be less than £5, at least that's what i paid for mine, and it works great.

I shall be there armed with my camera again, as it was indeed a great event last year.

bottom end has a Seasonal TRO, but I don't know the dates.
Open June, July, Aug, but not fully open due to wind farm construction at the top end.

Another vote for the Prime Tech tent, I've had one for a couple of years and it has surved some horid weather including a big storm on the seafront on the Faroe Isles.
The transport cover is starting to get a bit frayed but isn't a big problem.

There's an intersting video
by some bloke called Dave langAlso keep an eye out for Kit Car cisis on discovery shed, Bettle crisis and also camper van crisis. All very good programmes even if not LR related.

I ditched the batery box completely on my 100" so it'll never rust out, the batery now sits on a metal frame which bolts over the chassis rail (like on lorries etc) underneath the passengers seat.

A big hydraulic press, the bigger the better.

I've fitted both disco and rangy classic seats into defenders, I have RRC in my everyday defender and must say they are very comfy, and even have arm rests

You'll need to source an oil cooler and pipework for the auto box aswell.

I've bought £k's of parts from paddocks over the years and haven't got a bad word to say about them, they'll get plenty more orders from me. And yes, i always specify top spec parts, not the cheap stuff, and they are often still cheaper than my local Bearmach even with trade discount

I've got solid steel, alloy wheel nuts fitted to my 1984 RRC axles, standard land rover nuts for that model i think.

a relay on the board, bottom right in your pictures. The light blue semi-transparent thing
Your diagnosis what right, it looks like that relay had stuck, i gave it a quick thump and seems to be working again Cheers

1. Turn the welder on, so it starts feeding wire (uncontrollably)
2. Turn the wire speed knob.
Does it adjust the speed?
It does, yes.
I'll dig out the multimeter and have a poke around.

You could have a short between the two wires in the lead up to the trigger, see if you can disconnect the cables that go into the wander cable, and see if the cable feed stops.......... if it does, you need to re-wire it...............
Thats what i thought but like i said in my original post, i've tried this
This time the wire feed is constantly stuck on, even if i disconnect the trigger wire which comes from the torchThere is a circuit board in there, but i've got no idea what any of the bits on there are
Time for a grown up to look at it i think
