I'm bot sure if this is against the rules but there is a chap on Defender2.net selling a selection of boost wheels and tyres at bargain prices.

For when the tyre hunt as back on.http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/firefightermdc2/media/IMAG0030.jpg.html

I think it's as you can buy a disco so cheap now, these lads are not bothered about looking after them and just want to see how muddy they can get it. And then expect other to come and rescue them with it all goes tits up.

Great comments above. I'm also looking at upping a size to 285's from 265's. I've currently got wolf rims and Mike is right they are 6.5 inches wide. For me there a little too narrow for 285's. Standard Land Rover 7inch alloys at a push. I just need to find a set at the right price. Deep can you get General Grabber red letters? They look like a good tyres just not available in the UK.

It sounds even better than it looks.https://www.instagram.com/p/BEEO093SJUi/

I follow the owner of the white Disco in your picture on Instagram. To me it looks like a 110 but I will ask.

I've just painted one of the front out riggers on mine with garage floor paint to see how it lasts.

Brilliant reply Lewis. If you happen to be walking past your 90 with a tape measure in your pocket could you possibly measure the height of one of your fronts springs, spring seat to top of the chassis and floor to the top of the wing. Working on mine today the springs seem rather compressed. thanks Chris.

Another vote for shabs at syncro. He did my gear box for my 130 with HD bearings and v8 fifth gear. Done around 3500 miles since fitting and very happy with it. His customer service is fantastic and is always quick to get back to you if you have any questions.
-
I had my box rebuilt with a few new fancy bits by Shabs. And spending some time with him in his workshop he is very thorough. That being the main reason he is still a one man band, because he wants to keep all work up to his high standards.

This might be some use. http://www.onlinegearboxparts.com/
Shab's at syncro if very quick to reply to questions and offer advice.

Well I went to paddocks and brought some new ones. It will be good to see if there is any difference in performance.

It was using water and blowing white smoke, so suspect head gasket. On removal cyclender two was clean but there isn't any signs of a brake in the gasket. So I'm still a bit concerned.

OK, bringing this thread back up. I've just had my head off to do gasket and get it skimmed. Two of the injectors came out nicely. I got half of the third one out and couldn't budge the 4th. So left it with diesel specialist to get the stuck two out and skim. Those two injectors are now scrap. I also gave them the two injectors I got out to test, the engine has done 178000miles and drove well so didn't think there would be a problem. Apparently those two are no good either and they wouldn't be able to just re-tip them. So now need to get myself four injectors, more expensive happy days.

Happy New Year to all.

Wow, love what you are doing. Your attention to detail is fantastic. Great choice on wheels and tyres, does this now mean there will be a nice set going in the for sale page, cough cough. (Y) keep up the good work.

I will add my little here. I had a performance head on my 300tdi disco with with the big intercooler pump tweak, Turbo at 18psi and on 33's and it was great, Never running out of torque. They do work well. The only other thing I would have done to it would be fitting a vvt just to help get the revs going when towing.
Speaking to someone who had actually had his 90 on rolling road when fitting his boost pin and he said he gained 50lbf ft and lost 1bhp.
Fitting a fancy Turbo would be great, there just blooming expensive. I know of someone who fitted an Turbo off an Audi 2.5 v6tdi to his 200tdi and controlling it with a td5 actuator. That might be a cheaper option.

Ooooow I do like the sound of that. Can't wait to hear it under load.
-
That's going to fetch a tidy sum.
-
I can't wait for you lot to figure out the problems and get them working with an r380. Just in time for me to save up and drop one in. Keep up the good work.

How you getting on with these lights now the nights have drawn in.
-
I was going to take the bottom off to take a look just to see if there is anything visible.

Thanks oneandtwo, I have come to the conclusion what ever the noise is I need a new transfer box. Would love to get it reconditioned but after having a recond gearbox and the other work I've had to have done to get it on the road it's going to have to be a second hand box.

You might be right, I am coming from a 300tdi with 33's on the tootles along nicely.

If it's going to be permanent I would go that bit further and concrete. I think you will thank yourself later. It's so much cleaner and tidier, it won't chew up when turning tyres or even turning on your feet.
