  1. Thanks Pete, glad to hear it will work. Have just bought a daddy of a jack its an Epco 70, old but good. Pete
  2. Hi Lee Nope, no ramp. I will be using HD car ramps that give a 16" lift and will be working on the first bit of hard standing I can find where I can leave my car for a couple of weeks where it won't be in anyones way while my gearbox gets sorted by Ashcrofts. Pete
  3. Cheers Mo, will keep watching. Pete
  4. Thanks Ciderman, have thought of that but don't have the facilities to make one, if this ebay one won't work I will have to find someone that could make something up for me. Any thoughts on the ebay adaptor thing?
  5. Hi guys, is this still on? Have lost track... Peter
  6. Hi Does anyone know if this can be used with a R380 gearbox? Would make life a lot easier. If not, does anyone have any other suggestions? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=tab%3DWatching Thanks Pete
  7. Hi Martin Please put me down for a PI room Peter
  8. Well, if anyones interested: Spoke to Matt Lee today and apart from a bfh he does not have the facility to repair these. Will ring up some of the wheel repair guys and see what they say. Pete
  9. I'd love to do something like this with the forum but I'm pretty much in the same boat as Simon (above), gonna have to be relatively close for me as I'm planning a little drive down to Cape town at the end of next year Would be nice to do another shake down trip though, and meet you guys. Peter
  10. Martin I'm picking up some maps tomorrow, our plans have changed slightly... We are now going Dover - Dunquerke early on 16/7 and heading down to Monaco (All our routes are going to be green routes)as we have never been, we'll then spend 2 or 3 days exploring the South of France (I know it should be longer, but!) on the way to Spain. We will then mess around doing the touristy things in Andorra and Barcelona etc. awaiting your arrival sometime after the Billing show. The plan from then on in is quite flexible from our point of view but we would like to spend the majority of the time somewhere in the Pyrenees. We plan to take a leisurely drive back home, probably about 2 days driving up the West coast of France arriving home around the 26-27th of July. Let me know your thoughts Later Pete Edit: If anyone has any advice or has done something similar and would like to share, please feel free.
  11. Man, I can't wait, picking up some maps tomorrow... not gonna hi-jack this thread, see your Pyrenees thread. Later
  12. Thank you, this is all very usefull info. Martin, you laid it out in a plain and simple easy to understand format I'm planning a trip to SA at the end of 09 beginning 2010 depending on finances, have been preping the vehicle for the last year and am only now starting to tackle all the paperwork, route planning and financial side so this thread is a great help. Cheers Pete
  13. Thanks guys. Just been and had another look, don't think they are buckled as such, it seems more as if they are slightly "flatspotted" on the outer flanges, as if they've been through some pot holes or something. Do you know if Matt lee repairs them? I tried to phone him this afternoon but his phone just rings and rings, will try tomorrow. Thanks again
  14. Thanks for putting it in the right section.
  15. Hi Can buckled Mach 5's be repaired? If yes, where? Will they be the same (as strong) after the repair? Thanks Pete
  16. Has any one ever tried to move the main fuse box back towards the bulk head? Will it go?
  17. Well done Tom, glad to hear it all went well. Pete
  18. Thanks, that's what I thought. Don't know why everytime I need to replace a part I always look around for an upgrade of some sort Do you know what make the OE kits are? Have seen Valeo kits for sale at Paddocks Pete
  19. Hi Just thought I'd ask if there is a clutch kit out there that is better than the OE one as I'm looking to replace mine soon. Looking for something capable of handeling a fully loaded vehicle for extended periods. Thanks Pete
  20. I was also referring to those, I think it depends on the milage of the vehicle and what sort of use it gets, if he does plenty of laning, fording they will wear out quicker, I just think that a quick check while the caliper is off is a relatively easy check to perform and is also preventitive maintenance. Anyway, thats just the way I think, the seals are cheap and you get a shed load of "piece of mind" which can't be bad thing when it comes to brakes. Later Pete Ps. Where abouts in Joburg are you?
