The one I have is a 16 amp caravan plug so a 16 amp socket on a flying lead is fine.

It sounds like the seals have gone in the turbo and you may be lucky it has done no damage if it didn't rev too high or for too long. I would check for water in the oil and that your expansion tank level hasn't dropped. remove the air intake pipe off the inlet manifold and turbo. and start the engine and listen for any abnormal noises or smoking. your inlet pipework will need cleaning out and a replacement or repaired turbo. If you add your location some one local may be able to help better.

@ballcock - all the manuals are available online as PDF's if you search, that way you can see what's supposed to be with it.
I have already downloaded a suitable manual, there is also a lot of info on running the 24v versions on 12v.

If you search for night heater there are a number of better value units for sale. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/eberspacher-diesel-heater-24v-Night-Heater/223219868629?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 this is just one. although no fuel pump search for webasto dosing pump and they are there from £30 there are also installation kits for sale. A controller can be a basic switch or make your own timer.

I'm about to push the button on this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eberspacher-D2-diesel-heater-24V/292844825163?hash=item442ee96a4b:g:cYgAAOSw2stblQI0 but the cut wires after the connector block are giving me the fear. Any thoughts as to whether or not this will give me some installation headaches?
There doesn't appear to be any exhaust or inlet pipework with it, and looking at the wiring block I am not sure whether there should be more of a controller than the thermostat. I also notice that it is a 24v unit so you will need to play around with power supplies.

You can consider buying a 24v unit and running the controller with a voltage stepper as a lot of the other components can be run on 12v or swapped for 12v parts, keeping the stepper load lower. I managed to pick up two units at the last Newbury sale one complete and the other just a base unit. The dosing pump aren't too expensive about £30 second hand on ebay.

What are good alternatives for the front seats in a discovery 1? I have a 300tdi and the drivers seat is completely collapsed. I'm considering seats from a Honda Civic Type R but very open to suggestions. I'd like something that's fairly easy to swap, not too much making it fit. Thanks
As there are so many Disco ones being scrapped why not just replace with standard? I find the Disco seats comfortable enough.

I would recon one of the others. The one you have may last for a while as it is.

If it is running fine when cold I would consider a temperature sensor issue. I know you say you have changed it, Have you changed the right one? Have you tested it? Does your ecu mate show the engine temperature?
-
I would assume all it needs is to drop the main plate and use four bolts to the rear cross member, the chassis should have corresponding holes. An angle piece under the cross member would take the holes that are currently in use.

I don't know how much of it you are replacing But it is easy enough to remove the whole section and repair it off the vehicle. Good luck which ever choice you make, keep them on the road.
-
You might be better off getting a local welder to fabricate something for you. A bit if box section to raise the spring seat is all you need.

I have built similar in the past. Thanks for sharing.

I will be up there for the day on Saturday, all going well. I haven't been to this show before.

Having spent twenty minutes watching that I still disagree with a lot of it, I read an article a while ago that said most leisure batteries aren't proper deep cycling units just standard lead acid. I have also found some smart chargers will not charge a depleted battery if it doesn't get a voltage signal so you have to add another charged battery in parallel. I thought my alternator put out a charge regardless of what is connected to it and as stated in an earlier post the second battery will take whatever charge it required even if the main battery is fully charged. I might be completely wrong.

Common oil leaks on a V8 where do you start? If it is supposed to hold oil in, at some point it probably won't. 🙄
-
Could the temp issue be the problem? I would presume the ecu doesn't care what vehicle it is in unless it has been wired wrongly.
-
Looks a great little project. I like the drop side conversion.

As this is something I have always fancied doing to my 110, what makes the Thor V8 a better choice than my 3.9 out of the Disco 1. I intend to fit Megasquirt and Lpg.
-
It won't fit mine, I already have some thing similar attached. Although that reminds me I must finish the bits for my cross beam adaptor.

That is a nice looking rag top, but I wouldn't say it was a vintage 90. Old style doors but a younger tub and bonnet betrays it's age. Sorry I can't help identify the brand of the canvass.

Excessive crankcase pressure is normally caused by piston ring bypass, worn bores, damaged rings. Lift the oil filler cap off when running and see whether it's chuffing like a steam engine. The vent pipe to inlet does contain small quantities of oil, if the oil trap needs replacing or cleaning this increases the amount.
