moose
morning all, I replaced the cam belt about a month ago and done about 1000 miles, I was just changing the case cover at the week end and found it had a fair amount of oil in it i didnt replace the crank oil seal when i did the belt, and this can only have happened in the last week or so as i would have seen the oil when taking out the wading plug so iam now, putting in a new crank seal ( any tips on getting the old one out? ), but do i need to replace the belt, as i remember some where that getting them covered in oil is bad for them.. nige90
I would, oil isn't good for them and after all, they're not expensive. Nige
BogMonster
You have to take the belt off anyway to change the seal, so as the work is more hassle than the cost, change it again now Do the camshaft seal at the same time for the same reason! Les Henson
Oil contamination weakens the belt, I would recommend you replace it. Les.
