reb78 Posted August 30, 2018 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Theoretically, what damage might be caused to a 200tdi injection pump if one were to start the engine with the FIP locking screw tightened (the screw on the side of the pump not the timing pin)? Eightpot Posted September 1, 2018 Share Posted September 1, 2018 I dont think it would cause damage other than scraping the end of the screw and the surface it pushes against. It doesn't sit into a slot. The other day I started one up with the FIP locking pin still pushed home - aside from a bent pin there were no ill effects... I now put some red tape over the ignition lock to remind me not to do it when I'm doing work that means I shouldn't be turning the key.
