streaky
Gearbox is 1997 R380 in my V8 Disco. Up untill last week it's done 230,000 km without a blink. Now I have a scrapping sound that varies with the revs in fifth gear more than anything. Depress the clutch and it goes away. It's slighty noticable in fourth gear too and maybe even very slightly in third.......fifth gear is most prominant. Ideas? Thanks. S. western
As it goes away when depressing the clutch, I'd suggest it is the release bearing making the noise, or possibly the mainshaft chattering in the spigot bearing, ask Dave Ashcroft, I'm sure he'll guide you in the right direction.
