bluespanner
A thought for today- does anyone know what Land rovers were originally painted with? It’s brilliant stuff, no primer, straight to Ali. And it’s a very thin coat too. And paint stripper won’t touch it!
mickeyw
I'd be surprised in it was straight onto the ally. I once used an etch product that was a mildly yellow translucent shade., so it wasn't too obvious was there. I believe car paint used to me mostly cellulose before 2-pack came along. jessejazza
I used to specify paint coatings for process plant. Duralumin needs an etch primer. Without any paint coating will lift in time.
Romahomepete
At landrover new birmabright was treated with "Alodine" and then painted straight on top, no normal etch primer or undercoat. The yellow alodine coating can be seen in places where the paint has worn away. Peter
