Robrayc
Hello All. My 2004 Disco 2 TD5's tachometer does not work. I hear it could be the display dial itself that maybe at fault or is it the originating signal. Any suggestions?
Richard Mills
Hi there, Check the contacts on the back of the alternator, the older versions feed the tachometer signal from there. A corroded tag will stop it working.
sierrafery
Hi. Disregard the alternator. On the D2 the tachometer is managed by the ECM based on CPS input. Plug in a dedicated tester and if it shows the rpm the problem is on the signal path to the IP or the gauge Edited May 7, 2020 by sierrafery
Escape
^^ what he says. Check the output from the ECU with diagnostics, if that's OK look at the wiring and last resort the dash itself.
