Now just phoned a Land Rover specialist that’s has worked me that sometimes you need to replace the injectors after it has been stripped down and rebuilt?! Blanco Posted November 6, 2020 Share Posted November 6, 2020 Not in those terms,... as far as I am aware the injectors are coded to the ecu and need to go back in the same position as before, care needs to be taken to reseat them successfully and thats about it, any injector issues would show up on diagnostics surely? That was my understanding but they said that 7/10 times there’s no issue but others after replacing the gasket the injectors don’t work and need replacing? Blanco Posted November 6, 2020 Share Posted November 6, 2020 There are one or two lads that know a good deal more than me on the subject, best advice is to fill in some detail about what year and model your D2 is, what work you've had done so far, whether you are doing this yourself and exactly what the issues are that you are suffering ...... give them a bit more to go on and I am sure you will get some useful tips. Pics or video showing the problem is always helpful. Do you have access to Nanocom or similar? Welcome to the forum btw, people are always interested in what you drive, what you use it for and to see a pic or two so it would probably also pay to introduce yourself at the same time as asking for help. steve200TDi Posted November 7, 2020 Share Posted November 7, 2020 As Blanco says, we need the full story! Have you also had injector problems? If I were to do a head gasket swap, I would remove the injectors as when you remove the cylinder head the injectors protrude from the gas face very slightly and can easily get knocked. For instance you can't put the cylinder head on the bench gas face down as you damage the injectors. It's also a heavy lump and so you want to remove it and put it down quickly. I have done a few head gaskets on Td5 engines and never had an injector issue. What you DO NEED to do is ensure you refit them as they were removed to retain the ECU coding for the firing profile, or recode with a Nanocom afterwards.
