Rock Slider - Side Steps

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I fitted rock sliders years ago on my 90 and the Mrs being vertically challenged has badgered me for ages about getting a side step to help her get up in to her booster seat. 🙂

Has anyone else retrofitted a side step to a rock slider before?

I have folding Defender side steps in addition to rock sliders on my 109.  They work very well together, but my sliders are made to protrude about 1” from the side of the vehicle, which allows the steps to bolt as normal to the original sill channel.  I don’t know if flush rock sliders get in the way of the step legs.

Ahh, that's interesting. Thanks Snagger.

My sliders sit tight to the sill channels like in the picture below.

Do your steps still fold up ok with out interfering?

I do have an old butchered folding step that I obtained yonks ago and also a rear folding step I don't have fitted anymore which I can have a play with. Will get me thinking cap on....🤔

Cheers

No major issue, they are slightly off vertical when stowed (almost all the time).  It’ll depend on how much yours protrude, how vertical they stow, but your sills look comparable to mine.

Thanks Snagger, mine look much the same as yours and Paines.

BTW thats a very clean and tidy motor! 👍

Thanks again
