simonpelly
Hi Folks, In the process of fitting a new slave cylinder to our 1997 110 300 Tdi Doing this without any fluid lines attached to begin with. However, it's taking considerable force to get the slave cylinder face anywhere near the bell housing - around 1.5 cms away when using considerable udge. Wondering if I'm doing some wrong? Any tips or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance, Simon...
western
1. is the clutch fork/pivot ball/push rod & release bearing all fitted correctly ? 2. have to taken the fluid connection blank out of the new slave cylinder & partly unscrewed the bleed screw ? 3. are you 1000% sure you have the correctly slave cylinder FTC3911 & push rod FTC3912 ? simonpelly
Thanks Western. School boy error on my part. Had not removed the protective cap from inside the dust cover. Will try later post breakfast. Sometimes it's just more productive to have an early night rather than battling on! Thanks again, Simon...
simonb
Its easier to bleed if you don't fit to bellhousing first. Connect hose, bolt a stout bar across the end, bolted through the mounting holes and let it all hang on the hose. The bleed nipple is then vertical and easy to get at. Once bled out, remove bar and fit cylinder to bell housing. You may need to reset pedal height to get the correct clutch operation - there was someone asking about this a few days back, with Western giving some advice.
