muddy
Can anyone confirm my suspicions that the defender variants of these gearboxes (including the relevant top housing) are the same length from their bum to the gear-levers. IE fitting the 'wrong' gearbox in the existing tunnel/gearbox/transferbox mount orientation the sticks will still be in the correct place for the tunnel and gator to fit as per factory. western
The stumpy R380 is a direct fit for the 4 cylinder 2.5 engines including 200tdi in 90 & 110, (I have a stumpy R380 in my 1989 110CSW behind a Defender spec 200tdi, my 110 was a Td/LT77 originally, no changes to any mountings on chassis) The 300tdi & Td5 R380 have longer bell housing & input shaft, so that type won't fit behind a 200tdi in the set back engine position as in pre 300tdi models, gearbox lengths might be on Ashcroft website. smallfry
Or more simply, the actual gearbox and ally housing that sits between the main gearbox and transfer box are all the same length, its the bellhousing and input shafts that are different lengths, depending on which engine it was fitted to.
