hnnhw2020
Wondering if someone can help me out here… Yesterday I drove our 2020 Defender, got home and locked as normal. Went out to it a few hours later and it wouldn’t unlock. Thought it was dead battery in fob, so changed battery and tried again - wouldn’t unlock. Husband came home later that day and we tried his key, also wouldn’t unlock. Car seems completely unresponsive so we’ve come to the conclusion that randomly the keys have unsynced with the car. Managed to get into the car via the drivers side with the slider key inside the fob, but the car doesn’t recognise either keys so won’t start and we’re unable to immobilise alarm. Battery has been checked and has charge. JLR said try AA or a car key company for advice, they said they wouldn’t be able to see the car until March…not very helpful. Car is also no longer under warranty. We have the remote app, but car was linked to previous owner. We requested previous owner to be removed this morning which has been done, but apparently as the car isn’t responding it probably won’t update with it. According to JLR we could have had some luck with remote app (not sure on this). Next step is to phone AA but just wanted to see if anyone here has experienced anything remotely like this or have any advice for this situation? Very confused! Thanks
jeremy996
One possibility is radio interference; try and turn off any and all radio sources you have near the vehicle, Wi-Fi, baby monitors, WiFi enabled CCTV, door bells etc and retry. If you have cheap access to roadside rescue, (AA, RAC etc), make it their problem.

We aren’t a member of AA unfortunately but will have to phone them as it’s our last resort!
jeremy996
Have you got a local LR independent specialist?
hnnhw2020
My husband has a specialist coming out but can’t make it until Monday. Didn’t have any luck with radio interference, but appreciate your suggestion! 2 minutes ago, jeremy996 said: Have you got a local LR independent specialist? Retroanaconda
Might be worth disconnecting the battery for five minutes and then reconnecting.
