Jamest535 Posted February 4, 2007 Share Posted February 4, 2007 Sometimes in the past week or two, i have started my 300td1 auto up etc and put lever in Drive and the car just sits there goes not go. LS26 Posted February 4, 2007 Share Posted February 4, 2007 then all of a sudden the cars goes in gear On my old XJ6 it would do this when the ATF got low - could take anything upto 20 seconds to get up enough pressure to operate the brake bands. Pete Attryde Posted February 4, 2007 Share Posted February 4, 2007 As a fellow 300TDi auto owner I would also say that there is a good chance that the oil level is low. Mine used to do a similar thing when the level got low because of a couple of leaky pipes to the gearbox cooler. I also found that servicing the gearbox (i.e new filter and oil) made a noticable difference. When checking the oil level you need to make sure the box is cold but the engine is running. HTH Pete.
