Gazzar
I'm working on upgrading the air filter on my TDI, so looking at joiner hoses between the filter box and the turbo. It's non standard, a defender intake and turbo on a disco TDI 200 in a series, so OEM parts might not work. I had just assumed that standard shiny bling eBay silicone hoses and joiners would work, but are they strong enough to cope with the vacuum that the turbo creates? Or will they deform? Anyone used these on the vacuum/ uncharged side?
Bowie69
They'll be more than up to it, there's not much vacuum on the inlet, the air filter is supposed to be free flowing.
miketomcat
There's more vacuum on a petrol hence the need for a vacuum pump on a diesel. I've just replaced my air filter to turbo hose with silicone, I wanted a stock hose but at £100 for a foot of hose the silicone won. It works fine and doesn't collapse. Gazzar
Reassuring. Thanks. Any tips on how to make them less bling? 😁
Bowie69
You can get black ones, and I think I did see some satin black versions... Which look more like rubber.
