I’ve seen it mentioned on a classic tractor page somewhere that it’s good for long term protection for tin work and results in a long term oily rag look. Because It's oil based it mixes with the oil based rust-oleum type products that the tractor crowd use (owatrol also market it as a 'paint conditioner'). Probably ok as a bare metal protectant but I wouldn't aerosolize it with spraying without suitable PPE -although using a schutz gun would be ok. And of course once it's been applied conventional paints might have difficulty adhering over it......but it apparently needs a degreased clean surface to adhere to.
