Hi, anyone got any thoughts on wether or not I need to use an auto box oil cooler on my trials only RR hybrid, I'm asking because I want to use a rear rad set up, and if I could ditch the cooler its one less problem/ expence

Yup, definately need a cooler. You would do well to replace the bog brush one too as under heavy load off roading it doesn't cut the mustard.

Ok, now we're getting somewhere, if the bogbrush is'nt up to it, then what would be a better option?, should it have its own fan? or can you over cool it?

But then, saying that Bish,, The hybrid runs the bog brush type, and has never been a problem,,, (so far !! :o )

No idea Mark, to the actual temp reached, never had any drive issues

Only need 2 pieces of info,, High water temp and low oil pressure ! ;)

Ah right. Was just wondering how the setup I had compared to a standard bog brush. I used to be able to keep oil temp below about 80°C and I know you have a similar driving style

I take it you've not had any problems with burnt oil, ie always nice and red.

My mates racer that I co-drive has a ZF box with 13 or 19 (I can't remember) row cooler mounted in the front grill (engine, rad, etc all in the back) but he doesn't have a temp guage fitted so we don't know how hot the oil is getting, although it doesn't seem to be an issue as the oil isn't getting burnt it's nice to know how much margin you have.

Obviously it depends where you are measuring the oil temp, mine was sump temp so that'd not be the max temp the oil was reaching.
