RRX
When i got the disco i have now it was VERY sluggish, after a good service, some injector cleaner and adjusting the pump abit it improved but i still don't think its right. I have a bigger intercooler, running more boost and removed the EGR, I replaced the Lift pump as that failed and things improved a bit more and have checked the timing and fitted a new belt just to be sure. The last thing i am thinking of doing is fitting new injectors as the engine is on 165k and afaik its never had any new ones fitted. I know TDi's arn't the quickest things but anyone got any other suggestions to check
western
have you changed the fuel filter ? if not put a new one on, the existing one maybe choked up & restricting the flow.
discojmz
yeah especially since youve been running wvo. it doesnt necessarily block the filter itself but tends to carry the carp out the tank well and mean much more frequent filter changes are necessary! not to mention it CAN break the filters down too. that said, injectors have tiny tiny tolerances. i took a set of injectors to be checked once and they were all knackered. 2 blocked, two not atomising the fuel, just dripping it into the bores but the engine was actually running, not too much smoke, and not lumpy at all, just down on power. having them checked costs nothing. if you're concerned, get them checked. discotaz
I had my injectors tested and ultrasonically cleaned for £10 each. Mine worked spot on and it had done 140k. I got it done from Northampton Diesel Services.
