Millers Diesel additive

It is cheaper than that in Halfrauds.

I am using it at the moment - difficult to say if there is a big difference in performance though. I have to say that it does not feel like it. I should have done before and after MPG comparisons.

Man who runs Difflock thinks it good enough for him to buy - Review at http://preview.tinyurl.com/22cmq3

Product Detail from Difflock at http://preview.tinyurl.com/yqvjbb

Millers shop page http://www.millersoils.net/1s_store.cgi

I haven't tried it yet, although a bottle should be included in an order of other oils from Millers.

£10.99 incl VAT but plus delivery is the Millers price, so that's the 'match or beat' target if you are looking at a bricks and mortar store!!

I suspect a lot depends on the type of diesel engine you are running. I think there is more scope for gains based on improved combustion with an older engine, especially where the injection control is mechanical rather than electronic.

I'm not saying it isn't suitable or of benefit with modern engines; it's just that their fuelling control is so much better to begin with.

We will see what people find.

Mine's a BMW turbocharged Diesel from the early '90s, mechanical injection, with a bit of electronics added on.

Cheers

I dont intend to use additives in my new Defender but in my 300TDi I used several to try and reduce some of the smoke under hard acceleration, the best one I found was Lucas. This increased my MPG by 2 and the engine ran alot quieter, I tried millers and never noticed any change whatsoever. There is always the placebo affect with these things but I had the fact that the Lucas did give me better mpg and that was checked over around 5/6 tanks of fuel.

I used to get mine from Redmans whom have an ebay shop

i think the comment on what diesel you use is extremely relevant, i use Esso or shell normally so it may not be quite as good as it should already by good octance etc.

i use miller diesel power plus in my tdi and find it to reduce smoke but mainly use it for lubricity.

i thought this one was aimed more at the modern engines so thought i would try it in the td5. netparts.co.uk do it for £9.89 but then theres the delivery (£3.85)

I have now used about a tank and a half of diesel (BP Ultimate as it's only 1p a litre dearer at the mo) with a double dose of millers in it and although I can't say it's going any better than without, it definately doesn't smoke as much as it did. I need to do a few more fill ups before I can tell if it's made a significant difference to the fuel consumption.

Pete.
