DrRob
Any ideas on this? Reversing lights were not working so, Got a new rev light switch and attached to the loom. Ignition on and press the switch - still no lights! Will check feed tomorrow. Fuse is OK as it covers other things.... Any pointers welcome. Orgasmic Farmer
Could be worn linkage in the top of the box. I think the tab that pushes the switch wears or breaks. I had this on a 200tdi disco. Never did fix it till I had to change the box for an Ashcrofts one (mainshaft spline wear). Fine ever since! Reverse plunger assembly already off vehicle.... I'm bypassing that by manualling pushing the reverse light switch.....
disco tony
check continuity of feed wire from switch to lamp. This wire runs under vehicle so is prone to damage
Orgasmic Farmer
sorry I missed that! Looks like its a case of finding the broken wire or bad earth then. Fuse and bulb OK?
Roverdrive
CAn't remember the type of switch. DOes it only have one spade connector? If so it needs to be earthed whn you are testing ( sorry if teaching granny to suck eggs) My '92 disco had a problem with the reversing lights flickering on all the time which was down to the wire being damaged over the top of the box. The reversing lights of that earthed through the switch. Maybe yours has broken completely somewhere? If yours are the same, with the ignition on, you can check to see if you have 12v at the lights, and work from there.
DrRob
Might have sussed it...one bulb missing, one blown. Plunger was stuck in = rev lights would have been permanently on! Last owner must have removed the good bulb! Doh! Teach me to check basics first. Had to take gearbox cover off anyhow to fix the lack of reverse gate resistance... Thanks for all the pointers....
