Shackleton
I went to see a man about a dog today. The dog turns out to be a cypress green '88 Range Rover. I'm considering it for my caravan project although it's lived and worked on a stud and so basically the horsey wee has put paid to the aluminium. On thing I am taking from it is the original Range Rover head unit. I'm not looking for kickass sound I just wanted something to fill the hole and not look modern. As in fit in with the car's age... This thing is perfect with it's big brushed alu knob and faux stainless steel look buttons. Anyone know anything about those old stereos, who made 'em etc. I can't even find a pic on the net. It has a large digital readout like an old calculator, you know that green colour where you can see the little bars that light up to form digits. The other thing this fella had was a '93 Vogue SE with 30,093 miles on the clock! The seats even had covers on them from day one, you should see how taut and perfect the leather is. Although the car won't come up on the air springs
paintman
If it is a radio/cassette player (mine's a 1986 & that's what was factory fitted) then it is a Clarion. Mine has two paper stickers. One is Service record with areas for Dealer, Sold/installed, Remarks. This has the logo Clarion 285-0915-00 The other says part number PRC 4500. 12v - ground. LW155-281KHz. MW 531-1602kHz, FM 87.5-108MHz, UNDER LICENCE OF STAAR S.A., BRUXELLES, BELGIUM, Product No. PU-9044A, Serial number - which on mine is a 7-digit number the first 3 being 000, Made in Japan. Can't find anything on the net, so you might speak to one of the specialist breakers or to a LR dealer to see if they can dig any info up. Or Clarion? And I don't have a handbook for the radio! Shackleton
Paintman, that all makes sense, it looks like a quality unit. Thanks for the info. Jules, thanks for the offer, I think he said he had the compressor replaced, certainly he had something substantial replaced and if I was listening to him properly he said the ABS lights won't go out... ? Ah I'll tell him I can get known working parts for him if he is interested.
