need4speed
When refurbing axles of unknown origin, is it necessary to completely rebuild the hubs? The swivel pins/seals are obviously being done as a matter of course, but what about the actual hub bearings? Is it a case of replacing them whilst ive got them stripped down that far anyway? white90
Makes sense, otherwise you'll be redoing them sooner than you'd like
western
At least strip/clean/regrease & new seals at the very minimum.
Les Henson
If the hubs are still on the axle, then spin them and listen for rumbling or roughness. For the cost of it - you might as well fit new bearings. That way your whole axle is as good as new. Les.
