Paul64
Hi, I just need to get a feel about what people think about Britpart winches. I don't have a lot of time before I leave the UK and as a last option I have seen a new Britpart winch, 12000lb pull at £345. It will only be for occasional use, when Scotian gets stuck and there are no horses about! Are they any good and is this price fair for what they are? Cheers, Paul

Paul64
Paul,PM sent for the sake of diplomacy Did you send it to me, because nothing arrived at this end. If you are sending a PM for diplomacy reasons it has got to be bad! Rejo - don't even bother replying to this post, because I know what you are going to say and it wouldn't be pretty! Minivin had a 2nd hand husky going for the same price, but time is falling away. I lost 3 days getting the LR MOT's and DVLA registered and so well behind. I just need a magic fairy to get one on the front of my LR quick as! Cheers, Paul

JST
Hi Paul, as we discussed via PM previosuly i would go for an EP9 similar sort of price and with the new TDS from Goodwinch thats got to be worth a look as well.

Thanks for that. Hopefully after my chat with "The Hobbit" my problem will be solved. I could have easily made a mistake on choice due to time pressure, so it is good to be put back on track by you guys in the know. Roverdrive
I have a Britpart 12,000lb winch on the front of my RRC. Only been used three times in anger, and performed effortlessly on those occasions. I cannot comment on future reliability of course. A few of the local guys use Ryders. Cheap (Chinese??) solution, but have worked every time when needed. Our use is recovery on "escorted" safaris on private land not green lanes - just to give you some idea of the use to which they are put. Jurriaan
I would try getting a used Warn/Ramsey/Superwinch/etc for the same sort of money. But that's just my opinion, I buy almost all of my parts used.
JST
i'd only buy second hand (winch) again if i knew the guy i was getting it from and the history and it had had some kind of refurb work completed on it otherwise you could be paying £350 for something second hand when you may well need a new motor before you can use it in anger when you can get new for that price. (EP etc) The only difference i would add is for a Husky or 8274 if it was dirt cheap in the first place as they are alot as a new purchase. You can always get a winch off Walfy his are hardly ever used, not because he doesnt get stuck just that something normally breaks on the truck before he gets to a site.... Guest WALFY
Baiting me Mr T won't work!!! I suppose between us WE could kit him out with whatever he needs as neither of us do much with our trucks do we?
