freeagent
just about to order a set of 245/75 r16 General grabber AT2s for my '96 disco... I'm going to be using them for the daily commute, but more importantly for mild green laning (have Insa Turbo sahara's for the really rough stuff) and for our trip down to the Pyrenese this summer.. are they any good? tread wear? puncture restance? q-rover
I have had mine on for 7 months now and they are the best all-round tyre to get at the moment, I reckon. I have 265/75x16 on my P38 and they work very well onroad, OK in snow, great for an AT offroad. I have no hesitation recommending them. Better value than BFG. Orange
I run them in 255/55/18 size on the Disco 2. Very good all round tyre for the type of stuff that I do with it. The main benefit has been the on-road stability. It doesn't wander from where I point it now, whereas on the Goodyear Wranglers, it was always following the smallest of rut in the road. Done about 9k miles on them and there is no sign of any real amount of tread wear. If you want a decent price, Matt, try RM Tyres on the Medway City Estate (Strood). They beat everyone I rang by a country mile and they were even cheaper than the Goodyear Wranglers in the same size.........but mine are an 18" rim... Their price is all-in, too. I can get them fitted and ballanced for a fiver each.. sounds like good feedback so far, keep it coming. thanks.
jules
I've got a set on my wifes freelander and done 15k on them so far good as gold all round 215/65/16's
jpk
I've had mine for about 3 years now. Regular commuting, occasional off-roading, 10 000 miles in Africa on a 4 month trip last year. No problems so far, touch wood. I was a bit worried about the sidewalls being vulnerable as they are only (I think) 2-ply, but even running them soft in the Botswana sands we didn't even have a single puncture. I'll be getting a new set when these are done. JP
BogMonster
I think the sidewalls are some of the toughest around in mainstream tyres - they certainly feel it though I have yet to try and bust one to prove the point
