Strata Florida

Recommended Posts

Planning on a trip around wales in the Summer and really fancy driving Strata Florida. I heard about this a few years ago when I was stopping at a Bothy half way along the route. After walking across 6km of open moorland in the dark to arrive there for the first time I am unsure who was most un-nerved, me finding a selection of Landcruisers parked outside or them to be interrupted by 3 very cold and wet walkers at 2am.

Anyway, this time I intend to be propelled by 4 wheels, although my Defender does not have a snorkel, if I keep an eye on the forecast do you think the trail is drivable without fitting one?

I did it a few weeks back, stock height disco with no snorkel. Defender probably has more clearance for the airbox I'd have thought.

It hadn't rained much the week leading up to the saturday we went. There was only one section towards the end where it got a little deep and I was worried as water came over the left headlight. I think I got lucky though.

Just ease it in slowly, or check each river crossing before driving it.

Lovely area up there. Will try to go back at some point in the summer.
