General tyres

I have no idea, but I could suggest a couple of dealers I know who do general. However, without your location (preferably in your profile) I don't know if they would be of any use to you...

The crossply version of the SAG is now out of production - even the UK main agents didn't have any last time we asked but there may be the odd ones kicking around - I guess you'll just have to phone a lot of tyre dealers and try and track down a set if you really want them :)

They were made here in South Africa, but are not made any more. They are great if you want your Landy to sound like a Stuka in a dive and the wet road grip is sort of non-existent.

Yeah quite agree - they were lethal in the wet!! They also howled like crazy on the road. Werent bad in the mud though.

As someone else has said I believe these are no longer in production, which IMHO is no bad thing cos they were dangerous in the wet!

spent months looking for a set here in uk but no joy. no one imports them any more and no one produces them anyways.

apparently a company called 'security' make a copy , but would you be happy running a cheap copy of a tyre that has been classed as dangerous by nearly every one who has used them?

i ended up with some michelin xzl's from this guy , and to be honest im glad i did , the sags sound rough and apparently wear out way to fast.

We have some Security on order at work, they are apparently a copy of the Firestone SAT (so a directional tread) rather than the General SAG. Don't think the SAT's were reknowned for on road manners either but in their day were reckoned to be one of the best off road tyres around.

Yes, the cross-plys wear out fast, and the radials are a useless tyre off-road either on deep sand or mud. Strong though, so ok on rocks. Flogged my last SAG radials to a lightweight owner a few years ago and fitted BFGs on wolf rims. Much better and look good too.
