Damon
Hi all I need a new 265/70 x 16 Macho tyre for my Disco. Colway/Greenway have gone pop, but the firm I originally bought the tyres from are now doing a Sahara/Macho copy by Marix........... the 'Puma'. Insa don't do a 265/70 sahara, so that isn't an option. Anybody heard/know of this firm and their quality or otherwise? Thanks Damon
steve200TDi
Hi, I thought those tyres were still available on the web at these places: http://www.sowdentyres.co.uk/greenway-tyres.html http://www.tyresdirectuk.co.uk/xcart/custo...home.php?cat=14 http://www.tyremonkey.co.uk/tyres/4x4-tyre...yres/index.html but I haven't tried buying from them, so I could be wrong! I'm interested in getting a set of macho style tyres, What are they like off road and whats the tyre noise like on road? Steve
Damon
Thanks Steve I know Sowden don't have any....... that was who I got them from in the first place, and went back to him for my replacement. It is him who is now selling the Marix Puma instead. I will have a look at the other places you list. The Macho's have done about 20000 miles and are 3/4 worn, so not great, but at the price I am happy. They have never left me bogged off road, but I have a petrol v8, with underslung LPG tanks so don't go mad...local green lanes only, and prefer rocky and twisty to bog anyways. I put the Macho's on, which are quite agressive because I drive the lanes alone so wanted a bit of insurance. On road I noticed a large performance drop going from Eagle GT4 road biased tyres in 235/70 size, but it still pulls 80+ on the motorway with ease so no worries. I didn't think they were noisy at all when I first fitted them, but as they have worn they have got noisier, though not intrusively, and they are surefooted in wet and dry on tarmac. damon
Damon
Well tyre monkey has 'out of stock' by all of the Greenway range, and won't let me order any, but Tyres Direct has let my order go through, so fingers crossed. Have just noticed that Macho's are M rated, whereas the Marix Pumas are Q rated, so will look at these next time I need a set. D
