HotRod
The under-seat tank can be a pain for clearance at times, even with rock guard (see other thread- leak problem) - if it comes to tank replacement I wonder if the new Defender rear tank position (under floor) makes more sense? (Don't want to use up space in the pick up bed area) Grateful for experiences from late model owners - do they get bashed? Would it be easy enough to source / fit rear tank?? You'd need to reposition the filler neck presumably, amongst other things? Any advice? thanks
BogMonster
If you bash a side tank you will certainly bash a rear one! Also the plastic tank is not that bash proof unless you armour plate it...

Any advice? thanks I saw an alloy internal tank on flea bay a couple of days ago that may be worth looking at if ya not bothered about loosing the room in the back. I'm currently fitting a TD5 rear tank to a TDi, but thats as well as the side tank. They do sit quite low.
