Torque value required

I found a value on Rave of 25Nm or 18LB/ft.

Apart from torqing things to FT settings, can anyone advise what they believe or can report from factual source what the bolts should be tightened to for an effective seal please.

I have no water leaks but suspect I may be have an air leak between valley gasket and inlet manifold / cylinder heads.

Tickover gone to pot but runs well over 1100 RPM.

Not ticking over well... Looks like I didn't tighten the valley gasket / inlet manifold quite enough. Chasing down an air leak...

Tweaked the bolts a little tonight and it's improving so I'll get another valley gasket etc. and re-fit everything in a few weekends when back from a nice week away down towards BBC. (Don't tell him.. Our secret..)

How are you going to seal the diesel injectors in the holes? You would have to have adaptors made that will thread into the inlet manifold, and then bored to take the injectors. You could be clever and make the adaptors with twin holes - one for an injector, and the other for the glow plugs.

Surely I could just dangle them off the exhaust Les and drag them along the road.. Make a nice jangly noise maybe !

Be more use as an ornament I guess anyways... Not doing much in your engine thus far, so can't believe they'll be any more use in mine !

Are you using one of the composite vallety gaskets or the plain tin?

I assume the composites have a little more "give" and effect a better seal, they also resist corrosion better. ;)

I also use a light spray of the aerosol Hylomar sealant on both sides... and on the old blocks I've worked on, its good practice to make sure all of the bolts actually run to the bottom of their threads and are not goo'ed (tech word  ) up with silicon from some previous botch repair.
