Megasquirt Map

I feel like I'm coming late to a meeting, as I only found this site now after the LR Enthusiast Forum folded!

Anyway, I have just very successfully completed the Megasquirt with EDIS installation on my 1995 Disco V8i with 8.23:1 CR. I have developed my own fuel and timing map on a rolling road dyno. What I did was, is to find max power at all the grid points for the timing map, and on the fuelling map we found max power then leaned it out until we lost 2% power, again at all the grid points.

The excercise was extremely interesting as we typically found max power to need a 13.2 AFR at most points. In order to lose 2-3% power (we took away 1 KW at low to mid range, 2KW at higher rpms but did not go beyond 80% manifold pressure) the AFR could be leaned out to between 15 and 15.5:1 AFR.

Under trailing throttle conditions (not cut-off) I am running 17:1 AFR. For full, flat-out throttle I am running between 13.5 and 14.7 dependant on the rpm, as I find that anything richer achieves no extra power and just wastes fuel.

Now that is my input. I have seen archive inputs from Fridgefreezer with a link to Dan's Megasquirt Map. I cannot access it for some odd reason. Is it possible for Fridgefreezer, Dan or anyone else to please send me this Map and any other maps that the guys with Megasquirt have done? I am seriously inquisitive as to what you guys have done and find works well. I have no-one to compare to here in lonely South Africa. My direct e-mail: andreoberholster@flysaa.com

Firstly, welcome to the best Technical Land Rover Forum! You have come to the right place at last.

Andre, please phone Brian Cotton on 083 709 8505 (you possibly know him from the LROC), because he is very interested in megasquirting an engine or two. I am sure you can answer a lot of the questions that he has unanswered so far. And then there will be at least two of you!

or you can email him on workshop@landyonline.co.za or Skype on Landyonline. Cheaper than a cell phone call.

Dan's map was a really poor base map that worked but was really not tuned very well - it wouldn't help you with anything. There are a few maps posted around the place here with better information and decent tuning behind them.

Don't worry............ the party is still ongoing

Just so that I'm not having a party all by myself, here's a few vehicles I've "squirted" (fitted and mapped) with Megasquirt:

(sadly, for the pics you'll have to subscribe to the msruns site)
